i love how much he goofs on andy reid for being an awful coach. yes, he makes some poor clock management decisions and poor challenges. those are not the only things a head coach does.

Simmons has a huge crush on Belichick, so if that doesn't explain it all...

I haven't followed the Eagles with a microscope over the past 10 years, but it seems to me they've consistently been the best team in the NFC. Reid deserves SOME credit for that.

Yeah, I'm with Truffle. Andy Reid is one of the 5 best coaches in the NFL.

No Asante Samuel is immense.

hahaha I think it was one of the Score guys that said "the way the breaks have gone for this Bears team I think Vick is gonna come up with a broken neck or something before the game" and now we are blessed with the loss of Samuel for this game.

An addendum to my previous post: We don't even have to win it, though we really do, but if Cutler has a smart, well thought out game, I'd be satisfied. I wont even blame the defense if they get cut up.

dmitri patterson is more a nickel corner than a starter, so we're already exposed at one CB spot. i have no idea who this other guy is but chance are he would have been starting if he were any good, since patterson isn't that good and ellis hobbs sucked this year.

if the bears had good WRs we wouldn't have a chance but since your WRs are below average it might not totally kill us.

You'd know who he is if he was anything better than terrible.

Maybe the Bears don't have world beaters at WR but they have enough speed to blow up depth chart guys if they aren't on top of their assignments.

That said, I'm expecting a loss today for the Bears. Too much Vick for the D, with too many receiving options for the Bears secondary to keep under control.

On O, pressure defense will likely blow up Cutler on enough plays to keep us from being able to stay close on the scoreboard.

I'll go:

Eagles 27

Bears 13

not really. he's a rookie who was drafted in the 4th round and has played mostly on special teams. i mean, he probably sucks, but it's hard to make that judgment right now.

Yeah, and it might not matter if they can get to Cutler up front on enough pass plays.

The thing is, if someone can get up on the Bears by more than a TD I think the pressure to do more deep-drop pass plays will increase. I don't think we've really seen that in recent weeks because our D has been really good.

The score has been close, we've been able to run the ball, do our roll outs / quick drops. That formula has really worked for us.

But we haven't seen what will happen if someone hits us in the mouth early and we need to try to score points. I suspect Martz will try to dial up deeper pass plays, and the OLine can't really hold up to that.

The thing about the Eagles D is that the CBs don't have to be great. The pass rush and the blitz scheme has to be great. The Eagles CBs are very well coached. Dmitri Patterson looks like a mirror of Asante Samuel from what I've seen. The Eagles know if they send a safety, the offense is going to look to throw the quick slant to the blitz side, and all they have to do is beat the WR there. Knox and Hester both have a history of being beaten to the spot by DBs. If the WR gets behind the CB on a double move, it's more of the fault of the guys up front for not getting to the QB soon enough.

Hopefully, the Bears will not throw where the Eagles blitz dictates them to throw the ball. The quick hitter to Olsen up the seam and the screen game will be key. The Eagles LBs can be exposed, but you have to get past an athletic DL and likely safety at the line first.

Does anyone really believe the Bears will manage to split the last six games? Beyond Detroit and maybe Minnesota I don't see the Bears winning any of NE, NYJ, GB and PHI.

Maybe NYJ, we'll see.

I think they can split the last 6 but that's probably the best they'll do. And from the looks of it right now, 10-6 is still iffy for a Wild Card spot. So even though GB is good, I think winning the division remains the easiest playoff route. But all of that could change after today.

I'm still pretty nervous about this game. I've watched quite a bit of the Eagles lately, and they have had really good pass protection and big playmakers on offense. I'm not overly impressed with Vick, but that first pass of the game to Jackson a few weeks back was a thing of beauty. Between his ability to evade pass pressure and the quality protection and the big playmakers, the defense has it's work cut out for them.

I'm hoping Vick's accuracy is typical today and we get some picks.

I think you (and everyone else) is selling the Bears way too short. All those teams are even or 1-game better than the Bears in record. Yet, the Bears are the only one of those teams that get picked against every week unless they are playing a cupcake. And even still, you can only give them a "maybe" over a Minnesota team they beat soundly a couple weeks ago. All 4 of those teams have bad losses and all 4 have shaky wins. The Bears get 3 of those 4 games at home, and the other where they've had success in recent history. I think 3-3 is most likely, but wouldn't be surprised to see them win today and one of the AFC East games.

Eagles OL is not very good. Given up the 5th most sacks in the league. A lot is due to Vick holding the ball too long, but Kolb got sacked 10 times in his 4 games. They've given up 7 sacks in the last 3 games, and that includes only giving up 1 in a game they scored 59 on a Redskins team that wasn't really trying.

I think the Jets have had to rely on way too much of the other team blowing up late in order to be considered a sure thing against the Bears.

Plug the Bears defense in against them last week, for example, and I highly doubt that final drive happens.

That's why I point to NYJ as that 3rd game.

DET will find a way to beat themselves.

MIN could beat the Bears @ home, but I think the Bears go up there and get it done.
