Anyway, back to this game. The offense clearly won this game. The defense was stout when it mattered most, but their strengths matched up perfectly with Philly. Forcing Vick into dink and dunk mode and taking away the deep ball is what you have to do to beat him and it is pretty much what the Bears do every game. The problem will be when you face a QB who is better at that style, like Brady, Rodgers or maybe even a guy like Ryan or Brees in a potential playoff matchup. And god willing, Roethlisberger or Rivers.

Brees, Big Ben, and Rivers all are similar to Vick in the aspect that they would rather throw the ball down the field. Rodgers does too, but not as much, and he will also take off and run. Brees and Brady are the only QBs that I think can have long-term success doing that (of the guys you named).

That's my big fear too. It's what we saw in the Superbowl vs. the Colts. Colts took what the Bears gave them and were great in the redzone, so bend but don't break didn't work vs. them.

Those guys do work down the field, but Vick's huge success has been about the deep ball. Brees this year is completing 68.6% of passes and only throwing 7.3 yards per attempt.

this game was the league's highest rated game of the year on any network.

you think people don't want to see the bears play? maybe the league will instruct their officials to disregard their former directive to bend the bears over at every chance.

Great win, obviously. The score doesn't really reflect how badly we dominated them, but I won't be picky. The end of the game was ridiculous though. Between them trying to take the ball from Knox after he recovered the onside kick (and was down by contact) to the crap that happened while taking a knee. The Eagles are one of the most classless teams in the NFL, and it's been that way for quite some time now. I don't know if that's a result of Reid or what. Just admit you were outplayed and move on.

Looking back on it, the disaster that was the Washington game might have been the best thing to happen to this team, particularly the offense. It seemed to force Martz to re-evaluate his game plan over the bye week, and since then we've been running the ball more often and more efficient, which in turn has led to more success for the passing game as well. Funny how that works.

Does it have anything to do with the fact that the game was seen in something like 85% of the country? That's awesome either way.

Yesterday's win actually improves the Bears to 3-1 against winning teams this year. Only the Falcons and Patriots have done better.

well, considering it's including all monday and sunday night games, yes, it is impressive.

Haha...from FO's comments on the game:

They have Cutler hemmed in, and he farts the ball to Matt Forte for a first down.

Yes...I'm 4 years old and fart jokes still amuse me.

I remember being surprised reading what the Sunday games get in ratings. Something like 16-17, which is incredible for daytime TV when all those sitcoms struggle for 5-6.

Yup...just waiting for that first idiot to somehow still have the Bucs (0-4 vs. +500) ahead of the Bears in their power rankings. But realistically no one will. Enjoy being the "team with good record that has beaten no one" Tampa!

top 2 things I loved from the game yesterday:

1. Vick loosing his shoe on the Pepper's sack

2. Urlacher laying Vick out on the Harris int return

man that was a fun game, even if the Eagles scored 13 junk points late.

Didn't realize how weak that has been. But they did beat NE and MIA

Ya I was pretty surprised when I seen it too. Add in all their OT games/close games against that schedule I'd say the Jets have been pretty unimpressive outside of their win vs the Pats.
