I never said Sanchez is basically Jay Cutler right now. Maybe is not basically.

He's basically Jay Cutler with far far better receivers and a line.

there is no maybe in that statement.

oh, and you are insufferable.

That was a joke buddy and I am pretty sure you knew it. For some reason you get incredibly ignorant when you argue with me. I originally said maybe and was trying to make light of the fact that everyone jumped all over it.

But give Sanchez two more years and he will be a better QB than Cutler.
No he won't.

With his line and his receivers Mark will be. Jay has more talent than Sanchez. Sanchez will be the better QB.

And wrong

Plus dumb

Since you didn't refer to anything specifically you are probably talking about your incessant complaining of the Bears' defense after the opposition marches down the field only to wind up with a FG all the while the Bear defense is ranked third and fifth in points and yards respectively.

Awesome game! That offensive line still scares the crap out of me, but Cutler did a great job of keeping composure and making adjustments. Excellent defensive scheme by the Bears today to control Vick.

Agree. Great win today.

I know. I thought you would look at what I originally said and wise enough to read when someone is self-deprecating.

Why can't you just admit that you made a dumb statement and we can move on? Everyone occasically says things that are dumb on this board, whether it be because you are misinformed or because you didn't put a lot of thought into something or whatever. Instead of trying to backtrack for 3 pages on something you surely wish you didn't say because you just happened to throw a name onto a list of other QBs, why not just say "oops i didnt look too closely at the numbers, my bad"? Then you made it much worse by trying to actually make an argument that Mark Sanchez is as good as Jay Cutler. Now you feel like you have to backtrack even farther by claiming it was said in jest and trying to say he "could be in two years". See how much of your night was wasted trying to prove a point that is impossible to improve, all because you cannot bring yourself to admit you said something dumb and move on?

Amazingly, the Bears came out of Sunday’s game injury free, which bodes well about the club’s chances. Chicago is arguably the NFL's healthiest team this late in the season.

In Week 12, what team goes without listing one player on its final injury report heading into the week’s games? Chicago did just that headed into the game against the Eagles. There’s a good chance the club’s injury report stays blank this week.

We have to admit we have gotten a bit of luck this year in regards to injuries. I feel like we deserve it considering how many injuries we had to deal with last year. It's great that we've been able to take advantage of this so far.

You guys are really going to refuse to enjoy this evening in the afterglow of a great Bear win, aren't you.

Not me, I have about three dozen in-laws who owe me plus a really good lunch on monday

Because I originally said that Sanchez was maybe (meaning not certainly) as good as Cutler. Why would you write an insanely long post when all you had to do was recognize that I said maybe? Everyone looked ahead to the part where I said in jest that that he was basically the same guy because Sanchez has a much better line and receiving core. I tried to defend the "maybe" by pointing out that Jay and Sanchez had very similar stats going into today.

Everyone here (including me) gets their jollies by pointing out where others are wrong. But why completely overlook what I originally said where I poked fun at myself by saying they were basically the same. I did that because you guys missed something do obvious where I qualified my statement. But all I said was that maybe Sanchez is not too far behind because they have similar stats.

The point is that there are 5-6 QBs in this league who can do exactly what Jay does in this offense even with a bad line and an average receiving core at best. Jay has his best game this year and all of the sudden no one else can do what Jay does.

There are obviously guys that can do what Jay does with a bad line and average skill players. It's not just about mobility and other QBs that may lack it--a guy like Manning or Brees prevents the sack and pressure before the ball is even snapped and that's where their mastery is clearly superior to Cutler's at this point in time; it probably always will be.

Guys don't play elite level QB for 8-10 seasons without having stretches where they're shifting to new, inexperienced personnel or just weak spots on the team in general. That's why they're good.

And Sanchez isn't as good as Cutler. The talent around him is very good and he's got a scheme that allows him to be productive in a limited way. Of course it's basically hysterical internet posters that hate USC/New York/Rex Ryan that think an early entry QB like Sanchez is somehow behind the curve when he is very clearly ahead of it.

i've been saying that no one else can do what jay does, except for aaron rodgers and perhaps michael vick, for a while. i've given reasons for this.

your continued hatred of cutler is baffling. you're the guy who last week said that cutler needs to be replaced and is the weak link on this team. remember how everyone laughed at you? was that humiliation enough? not at all, because this week, you've made several equally idiotic statements.

The "maybe" is the only leg you have to stand on. You said Sanchez possibly could have won the game for the Bears today like Cutler did when the next game he himself wins for his team will be his first. It doesn't make any sense that you would jokingly say that they are basically the same. If you really did say it as a way to admit you are wrong then fine. But it looks a lot more like someone backtracking and trying to make a dumb comment look less dumb. You also contradict yourself when you say that Cutler and Sanchez's stats are similar, but earlier admit that Sanchez's numbers have a lot to do with the Jets having superior receiver and a much much much better offensive line protecting him. So no, Sanchez isn't in the same realm as Cutler right now, which is what you originally implied was maybe true.

The point is, beyond your original point instead of just downplaying what you said, you turned it into a much bigger convo by trying to prove your point and saying many wrong things along the way.

Thinking Jay is the only one that can do this, or has done this, is pretty myopic. Other guys have done it. Rivers is doing it this year and while his line isn't as bad, his play is blowing Cutler's out of the water. Manning's offense has been a MASH unit as well. Roethlisberger won a damn Super Bowl with a line that was utterly terrible in pass protection.

Aaron Rodgers put up numbers last year that are better than 99% of all seasons ever played by a QB with a terrible line.

Posted

And your reasons are bad. Put Brady, Manning, and the other guys I mentioned in this offense and the team is better.

I don't think I said he needs to be replaced. I said lately (since the bye) Cutler was the weak link because he was the weak link. The line was playing better, the running backs were playing better, the receivers were getting separation, and the defense was solid while Jay was throwing more picks in the red zone. Jay obviously isn't bad anymore. I did not forecast that Cutler would be the weak link forever, but if the Bears want to be a serious contender he had to up his play. And he certainly did and I am ecstatic. This is the Cutler that the Bears thought they were getting.

He just needs to find a floor and keep the true stinkers where he single handedly loses games at bay. He's doing a much better job of that this year outside of the Washington game.

Hahaha what a tool. But exactly what I expect from an Eagle

"As bad as we played, we lost by five and they know we're a better team," Eagles left tackle Jason Peters said.

i listed aaron rodgers as qb that i'd take.

as far as manning goes, put him in a system that isn't his, keep him from changing plays as he sees the defense, and you get a statue quarteback with a league average arm. as for his MASH unit team, well, he hasn't exactly been doing much with them lately, has he? rivers is slow and would get killed. roethlisberger is interesting because i think he's at least a little comparable to jay. i actually forgot about him, that guy can actually take a pounding and run a little.

but the point stands, you have to be able to run for your life in this offense with this line, and you have to be able to throw on the run with some touch.
