Good for him - he wouldn't have made the 25 out of spring training and he's out of options.

Best of luck to Micah.

I know he's a terrible option as a starting 1B, and we're obviously targeting a first baseman this offseason, but wasn't he our only true 1B option in the entire system that's capable of playing at the MLB level?

If you don't count Nady and Colvin, or just about anybody who is capable of putting a glove on their hand and is taller than 5'8".

Touché, but isn't Nady a FA?

We all know how this turns out. Hoffpauir hits 60 home runs for the Ham Fighters and comes home in 2012 to a 1 year deal or a minor league deal with an invite and he continues to toil in mediocrity between AAA and big league benches.

Nippon-Ham is the company that owns them, since Japanese baseball allows such corporate labeling, so "Fighters" is not their nickname; that's the team name.

Once again I have to ask, do they fight with ham, against ham or use ham as a weapon?

They sell ham. Or more specifically, they pack ham before it's sold.

I'm sure the ham doesn't go into the packing without a fight. Thus . . . Ham Fighters.
