Might as well root for the Bears to finish off the Vikings (what Arizona should have done today). Regardless of whether the Bears are one game back or tied with the Packers going into Week 17, if they win that game in Lambeau they'll get the division. Infact probably the only way that game will be meaningless is if either team is 2 or more games ahead.

Why would winning the game in week 17 mean they get the division. The Bears haven't lost the division record tiebreaker yet, in fact they are 2-0 in the division, and the Packers 2-1.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but if the teams are tied going into Week 17 then the winner of the game obviously gets the division. If the Bears are 1 game back and win they'll get it because they'd win the head-to-head tiebreaker. If the Packers are 1 game back and win they'll most likely (I said probably in the quote above) win the tiebreaker due to divisional record, because the Packers winning the game would improve their divisional record a full game on the Bears' record. So yeah if the Packers stumble against the Lions and Vikings then we'd still have the tiebreaker, but I just don't see that happening. We're more likely to get Packers losses when they play teams like the Falcons, Pats, and Giants.

The packers don't even have to stumble against Minnesota or detroit due to the bears already having a game better than gb in the division. While it's not likely that the bears will win all 3 of their other divisional games it is still a scenario that could occur.

Sorry I'm being a stickler but when I read your post it seemed like you were all but giving the packers the tie breaker which there is still a lot of stuff going on to decide that.

Regardless being the negative bears fan I am, I don't see that game having any meaning for the bears.

Rewatching the Collie hit, it seemed to me like Collie made the catch, established possession, got hit helmet to helmet, went ragdoll, and fumbled the ball. The refs called the pass incomplete, and then announced the penalty as a hit on a defenseless receiver, which I think can only be called if the receiver doesn't have the ball.

Granted, there still was a helmet to helmet hit that gets called pretty much all the time and it would have negated the fumble. Still, that was a bad series of calls by the officials.

Also, I think Jerry Jones is about to go on a killing spree.

"There are a lot of people here who are certainly going to suffer and suffer consequences," Jones said. "I'm talking about within the team -- players, coaches who have got careers."

But the scenario is what would happen if the Packers were 1 game back and won the Week 17 game, which means that if both teams win the rest of their other divisional games, both teams would wind up 5-1 in the division. And in that case the tiebreaker would move to conference record where at the moment it's almost impossible to tell who would have the advantage.

Agreed. Meaning, it's far too early to tell who would win the tie breaker if the Packers beat the Bears in week 17.

Packers to release CB Al Harris tomorrow.

That's unfortunate. He was one of my favorite Packers over the last several years.

That being said, Sam Shields has been a great find as an undrafted rookie FA. After he made that interception yesterday, I had a feeling that Harris might not even be activated off the PUP list.

Asked if he thought another NFC North team would go after him, Harris said: "Yeah, I do. I probably can't say who."

I don't know if I can handle seeing him in purple. That [expletive] sucks.

You have to maintain possession for a catch to be a catch.

Also, the guy who got the penalty led with his head against a receiver. His hands are down by his side and his helmet made contact. You are responsible for your own helmet as a defender. It's pretty clear cut.

What's he looking like physically? Might not be a bad move to cut Frank Walker (who they just signed a few weeks ago after being a street free agent) and sign Harris. Especially with the Packers game in two weeks.

He's said that he's been fine the last few weeks and the team just hasn't activated him, for whatever reason. It's pretty clear that McCarthy and Thompson just didn't feel like he was as good as what we currently have right now.

I really wish we'd just bring him back because we've been absolutely ravaged by injuries this season. Who's to say somebody like Woodson, Williams, or Shields (who missed a couple of games earlier in the year) won't get hurt? We're already thin as it is in the secondary. Why take a chance to get even thinner when you can bring Harris back?

How about navy and orange?

Doubt that would happen though. While Harris even at this stage would probably be an upgrade over our DBs, I don't see this being an Angelo type of move.

Harris isn't even good anymore IMO. He looked terrible last year before the knee injury and living in Wisconsin I keep hearing people talk about his return like they are getting the pro bowl CB back that he once was. The truth is he is a 35 year old who was on the decline last year and now has to come back from knee surgery/injury. Now I understand your argument about at least bringing him back for depth, but I wouldn't expect him to come back and have the kind of impact like many people are expecting.

I think Harris to the Vikings is the most logical fit out there.

First time in Vikings history they won a game when trailing by 14 or more with less than 4 minutes to play. Last time they came back from down 14 or more in the 4th was 1992 against the Bears when they were down 20-0. I remember that game. Todd Scott of all people had a pick down the far sideline that he housed and did a funky little low-step dance.

Its funny listening to the Dallas media speculating about Wade Phillips right now even reporting where he parked this morning as an indication as to what will happen.

And Wade Phillips has been fired. I actually feel bad for him.

Jones needs to fire himself while he's at it. Jason Garrett is reportedly the interim.

Yep. Situation is not good for Garrett either who will be replaced at the end of the year barring some miracle.

Matt Moore, Dan Connor and Thomas Davis all go on IR. This team was bad enough without having to put a M*A*S*H unit out there. Clausen or Pike will start vs Tampa (as if that matters) and Armanti Edwards will probably be the emergency QB.
