The Seahawks are coming off two awful weeks, but they've been able to dominate at home for the most part to the extent that if they win the NFC West, there's a decent chance they're favored against the wildcard team they'd play.

The Bucs had a much better showing in Atlanta than I expected them to have, to the point where they might just be able to steal a wildcard spot.

The Lions have to be the most feel-good 2-6 team in NFL history, having played a single blowout win against a bad Rams team and not having won a road game in 3 years. Blame the refs for the CJ "catch" all you will, that team was badly outplayed by a Bears team that hasn't been able to mount much of anything offensively since.

The Seahawks and Bucs aren't awful teams and likely aren't much, if any, worse than the Lions. However, as soccer pointed out, the Seahawks really haven't been particularly good this year.

Passing yards - rushing yards - opponents' passing yards - opponents' rushing yards

Seahawks: 29th - 29th - 30th - 19th

Buccaneers: 19th - 19th - 12th - 30th

Lions: 8th - 30th - 22nd - 27th

And those stats have to be taken with the consideration that Seattle plays in the worst division in the NFL, and it's not close. And other than the Chicago loss where they were legitimately outplayed, the Lions have lost by 3 to Philly, 8 to the Giants, 3 to the Jets (OT) and 2 to the Packers. A couple of breaks and they're around .500 against some pretty good teams.

Then look at point differentials:

Seahawks: -51

Bucs: -33

Lions: +15

Finally, consider that the Lions have done this primarily with Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton at QB. Stafford has played, basically, 2 full games this year.

This is insane. Pittsburgh is tearing through the Bengal o line on almost every play yet the drive keeps moving.

Btw how annoyed must ocho cinco be with TO basically taking over while ocho cinco toils in obscurity.

Then you'd probably really destroy the 23rd ranked Bears if you had a chance to play them.

oh wait.

trash talking rings kinda hollow when you [expletive] all over your own team every single [expletive] week, brainiac

we were "badly outplayed" if you completely ignore turnovers, but if we do that then we also outplayed NYG, GB (by a huge margin), PHI

at any rate, Stafford's probably lost for the year, so any goodwill i had for the season is mostly lost; you guys can keep incorrectly saying that we've sucked so far and i probably won't too much care about it

and accounted for 7 TDs in those two games

Even including the turnovers, that was by far the Bears' best VOA of the year, even better than the Carolina game.

I'm not sure how rating Detroit middle of the pack, just ahead of Minnesota and Chicago indicates they've sucked.

i don't know how it's arrogance, back in '08 i emphatically declared on here we'd go winless by like the 3rd week of the season, i'm not being an oblivious homer, they've just played well and are far better than their record would suggest

it should be a pretty easy concept to grasp

I wouldn't call it arrogance, I'd call it little guy syndrome.

"hey guys look at me, were not those 0-16 bums any more. We're so much better now"

Just let him have his say and pat him on the head.

Speaking of the Lions, Stafford might be out for the season.

I'm starting to feel bad for the Lions. All riling up sneakypower aside, they've had a very promising year and could be looking at a string of good seasons if they can just keep Stafford healthy. But the damn kid keeps getting hurt...enough that you start to wonder if it's always going to be like this with him.

It sucks because as good as he's looked he probably still has a good deal of developing to do. And he can't develop much if he's only playing 5 games a year.
