Orlando can still jump up to the 3 spot if the Bulls falter a bit, but 4 games is a lot to make up in a 30-game stretch. So is 3 games on 2 teams, which to me says the Bulls are pretty much going to be the 3 seed barring a total collapse by one of the top 4 (and no, Atlanta is not one of those).

Getting the 3 seed would likely match the Bulls up against either NY or Philly in the first round.

Wait Philly is a playoff caliber team? Seriously?

The bottom half of the east, whoa boy

any team that isn't horrendous is a playoff-caliber team in the eastern conference. there are 5 real teams and then a bunch of teams that range from lousy to historically bad.

Good win. That's one of our better road wins on the year. Looking at the standings, we need to do what ever we can to avoid the 4 spot. Really don't want to play Orlando in the first round. That could be a disaster.

i don't think atlanta will finish ahead of orlando

i think the hawks will finish 5th with the bulls and magic battling it out for 3rd

i'm still worried about the knicks getting melo and then having to face them in the first round.

Too big, too strong, too fast, too good, two for two from the free throw line

his improvement at the line this season seems to have gone somewhat unnoticed. all the way up to 83% now

This Melo to the Knicks thing.

What can the Knicks give the Nuggets that would even come close to compensating for Melo? Denver's going to get snowjobbed on that deal, big time.

If they get more than a trade exception and two crappy first round picks, then it's a successful trade.

I just hope nobody comes on here whining about Melo being given away after trying to trade Deng, Scalabrine and Bogans for him all season.

So in a stretch of 11 games when he had ulcers and couldn't eat solid food, Rose averaged almost 9 ft attempts a game. He averages 4.3 for his career. Can drawing contact be learned or do we need to put him on an exercise bike for an hour before each game like those sinkerballers who throw like 100 pitches before every start so their sinker doesn't rise?

I thought divisions winners got the 1-3 seeds, meaning we were locked in at least at 3 barring collapse. That's not true?

This really could make some sense. If he's weakened, his athleticism is going to be lessened, and avoiding contact on his drives would be far more difficult. In turn, I have him with 40.8% from the field during this time which would make sense because he's having his shots more heavily contested if he can't avoid the contact (and obviously general weakness altering his normal shot.

One more note, that was the last game the Bulls will play more than 5 miles west of the Mississippi River, since their only West road games remaining are New Orleans and Minnesota.

This changed a few years back. Basically division winners are guaranteed top 4, but if there is a non-division winner with a better record than one of the division winners, they go to the three. So if Atlanta or Orlando finished with a better record than the Bulls, they'd be the 3.

To add, also if the 5 seed ends up with a better record than the 4 seed, the 5 seed gets home court advantage. The Bulls had that against Miami a few years back. (which, to me, is stupid. Just make them the 4 seed, then, it makes no difference). So if the Bulls finish with a worse record than both Orlando and Atlanta, they wouldn't have home court advantage in the first round.

No discussion of the Asik for Courtney Lee rumor?

Meh. I don't like it. Lee isn't a difference maker and Asik is a good security blanket. We have a geriatric and an oft-injured spaz at Center. Plus I like Omer.

Nobody on this board tried to trade for Melo, so I don't know why you would be upset at them for commenting on Melo being given away.

If he goes to the Knicks for nothing in return, it's perfectly valid to point that out.

Because Bulls fans have been arguing in this thread for the past 6 months that Denver better trade Melo because otherwise they'll lose him for nothing. So when they trade him for better garbage than the Bulls offered, they're gonna be upset?

Thibs would still start Bogans, so I really don't want to give up a promising young big for a backup SG.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

A) Bulls fans say Denver would be stupid to hold onto Melo and lose him for nothing

B) Bulls fans do not want to give up Noah for Melo

C) Melo gets traded to Knicks for a mediocre return that we could have bettered without trading Noah

Result: Bulls fans shouldn't get upset?

Count me out on Asik for Lee. There's too much of a chance for serious regret there quickly if we did that. Lee would help, but he's not a difference maker. Obviously, Asik getting traded isn't the end of the world, but I'd rather see him as part of a package that nets us something that's more of a difference maker.
