I can't wait til the Bears don't sign him (dumbasses)

Didn't realize he could block DTs.

As I said last week, if you are going to go with a system that goes cheap on the offensive line, you at least need to invest in WR. A new WR is going to help more than a new OL in the very short term.

Eh..maybe. Moss be ok...if he stays a wideout he'd probably disappear a lot as Cutler is unable to buy enough time for him to go deep. It would be nice to have someone that can jump up and get the ball when Cutler throws it up for grabs.

I don't think its worth it at this point, especially because he's been run out of 2 cities already this year. This team has enough drama on it.

Part of me thinks that as a fan it would be more worth it to let the season play out and move on because moss or no moss we're not really any sort of contenders. But from Angelo's perspective, maybe he feels like he absolutely has to make the playoffs with this group and makes a drastic move like this.

I think this is the current waiver order:

Buffalo

Dallas

Carolina

Denver

San Francisco

Cincinnati

Cleveland

Detroit

Minnesota

San Diego

Arizona

Jacksonville

Oakland

Washington

St. Louis

Miami

Chicago

Philadelphia

Seattle

Tennessee

Green Bay

New Orleans

Indianapolis

Houston

Kansas City

Pittsburgh

Atlanta

NY Jets

Baltimore

Tampa Bay

NY Giants

New England

Who would claim him before us? I don't think any team without real playoff aspirations does it and I don't think any team with a young QB looking to build would take him either. San Diego and Miami maybe? He could be available for the Bears.

I see no value in just letting the season play out as is if you don't need to. If you can get him, I think you have to take the chance that you can make it work. I would prefer drama and a blowup to end the season than just finishing 7-9 again with no clear-cut vision of the future.

If we picked up Moss he'd definitely be the answer to a bunch of trivia questions. He'd be playing the Jets three times in one season with 3 different teams.

He'd be playing the team he started the season with twice.

Not to mention he'd get two games against the Vikings!

Unreal. His lack of effort pissed me off more than the postgame stuff. If anyone saw the play where he drew the PI call and then watched as the ball landed 2 feet from him in the end zone without even putting his arms out. He alligator armed one of the other few balls thrown to him.

The press conference was bad but he's always been a weirdo about stuff like that. Saying he won't talk to the media the rest of the year is whatever. Still, he basically professed his love for New England and wished he were still there. I guess Childress/Spielman are trying to send a message but wow. I don't even know what to think.

What a meltdown. For the first time I'm wondering if Childress will survive the year. If he's not back next year, Leslie Frazier should be the guy.

hmmm...he might go all the way through waivers....any team that claims him has to pay his $6.4 million salary...if he goes unclaimed...the Vikes have to pay it.

And then he's an unrestricted FA right?

Yep.

If you trade for Randy Moss you have to know that stuff is coming, so to release him for being Randy Moss shows a terrible lack of foresight.

I think you expect some of the weird behavior and you expect him to not be a 100% guy all the time and alligator arm it every once in a while. Letting a possible TD drop without even extending his arms or accelerating with no one near him is out of the norm even for him.

I agree with you though. I guess maybe if he was saying some of that stuff in the press conference who knows what may have happened behind the scenes. I think the idea was you get him a fresh start, show him some love and since he's playing for his last contract, you get a motivated Moss.

$6.4m remaining or total 2010? I'd have no problem paying half that salary.

Sorry, it's the remaining from the $6.4 million. You're right.

If he makes it through waivers, it's conceivable that the Pats could sign him for some small amount, and then not only get Moss, but get the draft picks and get salary relief.

Yeah, that PI play was weird. They ended up scoring so no one talked about it (although Favre did end up getting slammed on that drive). But he flat gave up on that play when he could've caught it easily.

I do wonder about what he has left when Brady and Favre can't/choose not to even target him much this year and he's had weapons around him. He's been doubled his whole career but always found a way to get open or into jump ball range. This year he just shuts it down if he's not in 1-1 coverage.

Still think he was underutilized since that Jets game though and unless he was a total cancer, would rather him than Hank Baskett. Sid better be back soon.

Brad Biggs just retweeted this:

Miami and Seattle already expressing interest in claiming Moss off waivers. Dolphins would want to block Patriots.

That's a team that probably shouldn't be spending more money. They have to have the worst fan base of any contender. It's always so easy to find tickets and away team fans usually outnumber or come close.

Moss in Seattle would be the worst thing to happen to Mike Williams since Maurice Clarett.

If we stay the course, we probably finish 6-10 or 7-9 and Lovie is fired. If we sign Moss, we might go 8-8 or 9-7, barely miss out on the playoffs or make a WC spot and get throttled. Meanwhile, Lovie manages to stay on board because of his improvement. Can you really see signing Randy Moss ending up any better than that?

I'm not sure how signing Randy Moss gives you a clear-cut vision for the future either. It's not like he's a long term fit at WR for us. He's never played anywhere where he hasn't been let go for .50 on the dollar due to the team being fed up with his antics, so even if we did sign him this year, and resign him for the next 2 years, there is no way you can plan on Randy Moss being your starting WR in 2 years or even halfway through next year.

I just think its not worth the trouble and doesn't really have a biggest enough net effect to bother going after.

Right. For no real reason. He wasn't going to get hit. Randy has always dogged it, but that's when the ball isn't coming or he's afraid of being blown up. He was standing by himself for what would have been a TD and he watched it fall.
