Stafford actually looked pretty shaky despite the 4 TDs, missed a lot of open throws

love how the Lions played today, except kick coverage of course, we beat an inferior team like we should

5 wins in your last 47 games and cocky enough to talk about 4-3 teams being inferior to you. Typical Detroit sports fan.

I am starting to come around on the Lions though. It's not even the offense that's impressing me, it's the defense not giving up 500 yards and 40 points a game.

even a cursory look at point differential is well enough to determine who the better team is, if you haven't seen more Redskins football than you care to have watched (which i unfortunately have, they're super god awful)

Typical umfan post.

The Raiders won 33-3 today making it 92-17 in the last two games.

They racked up 545 yards of offense today and have gained 1053 yards in the last two games. It's the first time in franchise history Oakland has had back-to-back 500-yard games.

DMac had 21 carries for 111 yards and two catches for 24 yards. He's gained 668 yards in six games this year (he missed two) which is sixth in the league, third in the league with 5.5 yards per carry and leads the league with 111.3 yards per game. He's also caught 20 balls for 217 yards.

I don't think the Raiders are going to be able to catch the Chiefs because they have a much harder schedule the rest of the way and would probably have to go 6-2 in the second half. I just hope Janikowski's shank against Arizona and the crapfest against SF doesn't comeback to haunt them. With one good kick, the Raiders are 5-3 and if they do anything offensively against SF they're 6-2 and in first place.

At least they're heading in the right direction. Next week is a must-win against KC at home to keep the slim playoff hopes alive.

And that Moss press conference might be the strangest press conference I've seen a player have after the game. He basically just talked his current team down and it certainly seems like he regrets blowing up in New England.

Just strange. It has the potential to get really ugly in Minnesota.

I can't believe the Vikings brought him back after the first time, and why does Randy Moss not get the same treatment/have the same rep as Terrell Owens? If Owens said anything like this, it would be front page news everywhere. Both guys have been ran out of everywhere they play but are extremely productive players.

I seem to not see this hardly anywhere especially on ESPN.

They're playing the wrong clip from that interview. The other stuff is far more interesting than what he said about not answering questions for the rest of the year.

Yeah, I saw it after doing a search.

I'm just wondering why he doesn't get the same rep/negative coverage that TO gets from media outlets. Both guys are pretty similar. Ran out of everywhere they play because their attitude. In fact, the one that gets hardly any negative coverage normally shuts down though when he's not getting the ball, and that's not TO.

I hate playing the Chargers. We played ok yesterday, but couldn't hold an early 19-7 lead and then couldn't come back late with Vince hurt again. I'd be ok if they just contracted the Chargers.

5-3 heading into the bye isn't bad considering the questions this team had coming into the season. Hopefully Britt and Vince get healthy over the bye and we have a chance to go 3-1 after the break. 8-4 entering the Colts game would be stellar.

5-3 heading into the bye isn't bad considering only 2 teams will have more wins after tonight.

Only 1 team actually. 1 team at 6-1, 8 teams will be 5-2, 3 are 5-3, and 5 more will be 4-3.

What is interesting also is that every division is in turmoil. I don't remember a season where there weren't at least a couple runaway favorites in divisions by midseason. This year..if you had to pick any team in the league to win its division, who would you feel safe with. Green Bay? Kansas City? There just isn't a dominant division leader right now.

A lot of that of course is due to the fact that some divisions are really good (AFC South, AFC East, NFC South) and some are really bad (NFC West, AFC West, NFC North).

Wow, I didn't even realize that. The comment was more directed at missing out on a chance to be 6-2 though.

I'll be honest, I still feel comfortable saying the Colts will win the South. The Titans and Texans have played well, but I just don't think they'll surpass the Colts this year.

I think Peyton will make mince meat out of our secondary.

The Giants are sitting pretty right now. Philly doesn't have a cakewalk remaining on their schedule and they have been pretty inconsistent. Washington is it's same mediocre self and Dallas is a mess.

Maybe, but if the Colts lose tonight not only will they be behind in record but they'll be in very bad tiebreaker shape (they would already lose the tiebreaker to the Texans and the Titans would just need a split to pretty much lock up the tiebreaker over the Colts). If they win tonight, they'll be in pretty good shape but they still have a lot of work to do and of course have some serious injury questions still. I could see betting on them on the theory that Peyton will find a way, but I don't think it's anywhere near a slam dunk.

I wouldn't consider Philly's schedule that much harder than the Giants remaining. The Eagles have to host the Colts, Texans, and Vikings and go on the road to Chicago. The Giants have to play at Green Bay, at Minnesota, and at Seattle while hosting Jacksonville. The Giants have an extra game with Washington and the Eagles have an extra game at Dallas. Those schedules are pretty much a tossup when you consider how good Seattle can be at home and how poor the Texans have been in the past on the road (although they have pulled out 2 close wins this year).

It will probably come down to the two Giants-Eagles games. If the Eagles sweep, they have the advantage. A split and the Giants have a decent advantage in that division.

Yeah, that's my point. Philly doesn't have a favorable schedule to makeup the deficit and they aren't that good. NYG has been playing really well since 2 early season losses to AFC opponents, one of which Philly still plays. Philly has already lost in the division.

Not a slam dunk, but I don't like this team against the Colts. The running game hasn't been a factor and the secondary is pretty weak against the better passing teams. Both games have the makings of shootouts and that plays right into the Colts' hands.

I don't expect to win either game against the Colts and I expect the Colts to knock off both Houston and Jacksonville on the second go-around. A wild card spot is still very realistic, though.

I'll be ecstatic if we can split with Indy.

I guess I just disagree that the Giants are playing that well. They beat up the Bears but that's just an awful matchup for the Bears. They crushed the Texans which was a great win. They struggled with a Detroit team that had Drew Stanton at QB for most of the game and they played very, very sloppy against Dallas both at the beginning and end of the game and made that game much closer than it should have been.

But at the same time, I don't think Philly is all that good either. So I can see your point that the Giants have an advantage and I probably should have put them on my original list. But I have a hard time trusting the Giants because they are so careless with the ball (3rd most turnovers in the NFL and tied for 6th worst turnover differential).

5-3 headed into a game next week with our confidence sky high while Dallas is on the complete other side of the spectrum. 6-3 at the bye sounds really sweet to me.

What happened to "this just isn't our year"?

I've really not been that impressed with the Giants this year. They might be the best of a bad NFC, but I really haven't liked much of what I've seen from them this year.

I thought that Dallas win was pretty impressive. Everything broke against them early and yet they were still in control by halftime and it was in Dallas on their last gasp to save their season. They have won by double digits three times this season which is usually something only the good teams do often. They are a little sloppy, but that has happened before and Coughlin typically gets that fixed. 6 points is their smallest margin of victory this year.

This has certainly been one of the stranger years I can remember. I would have never thought in a million years that we'd pitch a shutout with quite a few defensive contributors on the mend. Our depth is being tested at quite a few positions on the field, and the replacements are actually looking pretty adequate.

These last two weeks have been gigantic for us.

It'll be big to get Harris and Bigby back as well.

Yeah I'd have to say out of the 8 divisions, the Giants and Packers are the two division leaders I see most likely to stay there.

I agree with those that say the Giants have looked awesome. They have. And the thing is, their only real competition is Philly at this point. Washington is clearly not a very good team and they are starting to have a lot of turmoil. Dallas is just done as it has completely given up, so unless a coaching change occurs, they won't even be in that "dangerously skilled spoiler" category. Philly is a decent challenger, but seems to up and down. They look really good one week, and the next a lot of issues are exposed.

As for the Packers, its pretty much out of default. I actually don't think their win yesterday is as impressive as I've read. Their offense was nothing special (obviously against a top 5 defense and crappy conditions), the Jets offense was just as bad if not worse but against due to conditions. Also the breaks went GBs way, with the INT calls. Anywho not supposed to be tearing down GB. I think at this point the Packers win by default. They are obviously the best team in the division. The Bears are just not a very good team. They have good parts to their team but their flaws are absolutely fatal and for the most part too big to cover up with scheme changes. The Vikings I still believe are talented and they've lost a lot of close games but at this point their hole they dug is too big. Lions might be the 2nd best team in the division but again, the hole they've dug is IMO too big. Reset the season and they might be a 10-6 team, but 6-3 the rest of the way is only going to put them at 8-8 for the season.

Just for fun, my picks for playoff spots at this juncture:

Giants (11-5)

Packers (10-6)

Falcons (11-5)

Seahawks (8-8)

Saints (10-6)

Buccaneers (10-6)

Pats (12-4)

Steelers (12-4)

Colts (10-6) (changes if the Texans win tonight)

Chiefs (9-7)

Jets (11-5)

Ravens (10-6)

(I'm just guessing on the tiebreakers...the WC teams could easily be 2 of these teams: Jets, Ravens, Titans, Texans, Dolphins)

It would, mainly for depth purposes. I think we'll see Harris at nickel but Shields has actually been very solid whenever he's been out there. I think Peprah has the other safety job locked up. He's probably been the biggest surprise of the season so far.
