Pat would know that his mouth doesn't need to be moving every forsaken second of the game.

Are there any good national teams you guys like?

I liked both TBS teams in the LDS last year that didn't involve Dick Stockton or Chip Caray.

How are The Mad Hungarian and Danny Mick not on this list? Even your most die-hard Card fan down here has few good things to say about those idiots. Almost everyone bitches about them.

And Scully was still good up until a few years ago. He's just too old, especially to be solo.

if joe morgan ever quits, jon miller and orel herscheiser (i'm sure i spelled that wrong) would be a solid team

i love vin scully... classic baseball voice and he manages to fill up the air time without seeming like he's talking too much. harry kalas was my favorite but now that he's gone, i like vin scully best.

I pretty much completely agree with this.

I actually really like Jon Miller. He's pretty easily one of my favorite national broadcasters. Orel's solid as well and I enjoy Dave O'Brien and Gary Thorne when they do football/baseball games on ESPN.

I don't know if he still does ESPN TV ever but Jon Sciambi is awesome. Add in his eviscerating of that prick Bissinger on his radio show, and he's pretty much the coolest guy in sports.

Except for maybe TT when he gets all ragey like he does in this thread. Scully IS annoying.

Yeah, I like him and the other backup ESPN guy.

I'll second the notion that Jon Miller is pretty good to listen to. I'd like to be able to tune into him on ESPN without Morgan.

I'm genuinely shocked they didn't put Joe Buck and Tim McCarver on there. Or Jon Miller & Joe Morgan. I know they don't have specific teams, but they are more prominent broadcaster teams since they're national, and Chist alive Buck & McCarver are terrible and Morgan alone should put that tandem on the list.

Amen to that times a google.

Most White Sox fans I know love Hawk. Popularity among the fans is likely why they keep him.

Any team that Al Leiter has been a part of has been enjoyable. He doesn't mind going down into some nitty details that are informative to serious fans and likely boring to casual fans.

Josh Lewin from Texas and FOX is quite good. Good to see Brennaman in the bottom 5. The only guy in broadcasting who gets on his soap box more than Joe Buck.

Lewin's OK, Tim Grieve may be the worst color guy in the league though.

I can't believe there are people that like Costas and people that don't care for Scully.

Bottom line is that it's basically all a matter of taste.

I can't stand Josh Lewin. He is whiny and filled with cliches. He's a whiny-voiced version of Chip Carey.

Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy don't get the credit for being tough on the team and critical of decisions while maintaining professionalism. People think they are homers because they, especially Remy, speak with a Boston-accent, but they are a good balancing act. Both know baseball.

Costas is great when he's doing standard play-by-play. He's had a tendency to fall into lengthy explanations like he's still on Ken Burns "Baseball" documentary.

I don't know if he does TV for ESPN either, but he's the Sunday Night Baseball PBP guy on ESPN Radio along with Dave Campbell.
