I've been correcting my girlfriend for 6 months that its not points.

Wondering if Gooch can go more than 60 tonight. A little worried about him being beaten in the 2nd half. You called the slow back line guess Bradley is going for the speed to beat them with Findley.

I'm not a big follower of soccer, but the world cup always intrigues me. Just wondering though... do you root for your home country, or do you pick another to root for? I was always under the impression that you either root for your home country or the country you were from (as in you moved from one country to another.) Is it acceptable to root for a country that you have no affiliation with?

I ask because a former co-worker (who is an all-around douche) likes to pretend that he's from England. He had the Union Jack hanging in his office, a big ben mini-statue, etc... and he puts the unnecessary "u" in words like color and favorite. He also calls potato chips "crisps" even though they were invented and named in the US.

He was born and raised in california and his heritage is actually german...

I wouldn't know myself what the mindset of a hardcore soccer fan would be but I would assume that you would want your country to be good at your favorite sport so the likelyhood of seeing the best players in the sport would increase.

I watch soccer every four years. And every four years all the "we are the world" [expletive] gets on my nerves.

That said, I'm excited for this one.

Let's do this! Woo! And woo to the Blackhawks for getting us through to the World Cup so seamlessly.

Don't see how the US can do this. The back line weakness is just unacceptable against a team like England. If we can keep it to something like a 2-1 loss, that's a positive toward advancement.
