It feels like 120% of our runs given up have been via the HR for the past week.

Lincecum has 11K through 5IP

Damn shift killed us there

So glad the Royals drafted Luke Hochevar. :banghead:

I'd really like to see the stats on which teams are the worst at allowing runs in the half inning following generating of runs for the team. I'm thinking the Cubs are quite bad in this regard.

I had no idea Harwell also announced for the Dodgers and Orioles before latching on with the Tigers in 1960.

I believe he called the "shot heard around the world"

He did, but not the "THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!" call that we all know. That was Russ Hodges.

Dempster completely dominated Jones in that AB too...he got him way behind in the count, got him to swing at a pitchers pitch, and got weak contact and a grounder. If we had a real SS, we'd still be winning.

God just doesn't want us to get over .500

It's maddening. The Cubs seem to give up runs at about a 75% clip in the next opponent AB after they score a run.

I'm pretty sure God either hates or doesn't give a rat's ass about the Cubs.

Meek is pretty much the only Pirate that has performed this season on the mound. If he can go multiple innings, we're probably going to fail to get over .500 for the 20th time this year.

He was literally playing behind 2B and had to probably run 8-12 feet to his backhand on a ball not hit all that hard, no SS in MLB makes an out on that play. It was just piss poor luck, and whoever is in charge for pre-game scouting/deciding when to put shifts on should be smacked in the face.

Love that the Cubs rake for an entire inning (literally, all 6 batters) and get one run. The Pirates hit one ball hard and get two runs.

That's what happens when you've got a SS who can't range more than a foot to his right or left, even had he got to that ball, noodle arm would have never been able to throw Jones out.

That name sounds familiar.

Wasn't he a rule 5 guy that we pounded the absolute piss out of a few seasons ago in a game in Pittsburgh?

No SS in baseball makes that play if they were positioned where Theriot was on the shift.
