Then can I ask why it seems like you post about him and Peter King more than anyone here?

I read the kissingsuzykolber FJM of King every week, and since Simmons is the most popular sports columnist in the country it's next to impossible to not hear what he's said. If I post something in response to something stupid they have said, I'm not trying to be cool, I'm expressing my annoyance at two of the most popular people in sports journalism repeatedly making asinine assertions. Is there something wrong with that? We have threads dedicated to the stupid things the media says.

Hearing that Team Melo + Denver stonewalled NJ deal for same reason: both sides waiting for Chicago to suck it up (Deng, Noah, 2 No. 1's).

Even though Melo is an elite player, if I'm Chicago I want to see my team play first before dealing. I love the Noah/Boozer combo w/ Rose.

i know it's cool to hate on simmons, but when it comes to basketball he knows what he's talking about, and he actually does get good info.

hopefully the bulls stand pat, because that's way too much to give up for melo imo

I'd seriously think about it. As much as I hate him, I wonder if Denver would throw in Chris Andersen for that package. Andersen is not an offensive threat or a great defender, but he is a good shot blocker, runs the floor, etc. I'd rather have Kenyon Martin or Nene, but the Bulls can't afford them. I'd even throw in James Johnson.

Noah, Deng, Johnson, 2011 #1 pick, 2013 #1 pick.

for

Melo and Andersen.

Rose

Brewer

Melo

Boozer

Gibson

w/ Korver, Andersen, Kurt Thomas, and Bogans coming off the bench would be slightly better than the current roster to me.

That's a horrible bench, we'd have no center, and we're basically just the poor man's Heat in that scenario. If Noah really wants 70 million over 5 years and won't budge, we should trade him. Otherwise, Gar should just hold out and let Anthony force the Nuggets hand.

Don't forget Omer Asik!

Same bench the Bulls have now with Andersen instead of Gibson. No Center. And still not as good as the Heat.

Johnson was included in the trade because he's not getting any PT behind Melo anyway.

On the one hand I don't give up two number ones in addition to Deng and Noah. But if the Bulls get Melo (or even if they don't), those will be very late fist rounders that really never materialize. If Melo is holding his ground and won't resign with Denver, I would just wait until the trading deadline because Denver will want to get something for him.

I'd do that deal right now.

Deng's no reason to hold up a trade.

Noah gives me pause, but Melo's pretty damn good.

The 2 #1's? This isn't the NFL. They'd be later-round, non-lottery picks.

To me it all comes down to whether you'd deal Noah and his possible future for Melo. I would. Definitely.

One of the picks I'm sure they'd trade is a future Charlotte pick, which if things break our way, could be unprotected in a few years. Definitely more valuable than one of our picks, although chances are it will be in the 10-15 range.

My biggest concern is replacing Noah. The Bulls were a great rebounding team w/ Noah, Gibson, Miller, and Tyrus last year. Boozer this year makes them easily the best rebounding team in the league w/ Noah and Gibson. I think Boozer and Gibson and Kurt Thomas (Asik too if he can contribute) could still hold their own on the boards. But I'd really be worried about the interior defense and athletic ability that Noah brings up front. That's why I included Andersen in the deal. If the Bulls can at least replace that athleticism, I'd do this deal instantly.

By the way, while a lineup of Rose, Brewer, Melo, Boozer, and Gibson would be undersized and have trouble w/ Dwight Howard and maybe Garnett and Shaq if healthy, I think that team matches up well w/ what Miami will have on the floor most of the time. I think that 5 down the stretch matches up well vs. Wade, Miller, LBJ, Bosh, and Haslem who are likely going to play the most minutes together for the Heat....at least as well as could be expected.

Why does some random crap off day injury like this have to come along and ruin my perfectly good Sunday?
Posted
He tripped and fell (=drunk) at his house and broke his hand.

I just can't believe something like that happens. I have never come close to tripping on a bag in my life but somehow a professional athlete that needs his body to be in good condition to do his job manages to do that and fracture his hand in the process.
