I think Miami is the least likely, because LeBron would be completely upstaging Wade by holding his own special. "I'm going to Miami... oh and by the way, Wade is re-signing too."

It is still "LeBron's special", which would put him in the starring role and make Wade and Bosh his sidekicks. Also, if all three players are involved, there is no way those plans will remain silent until Thursday night.

This is true. I'm really hoping it gets leaked, but I'm betting that it's not going to. He's going to get absolutely absurd ratings for that show if nothing leaks.

I really dont know what to think about this. I mean, on one hand why would he hold a big special to announce that he's staying right where he was before. At the same time, If he was going to Miami I doubt he'd be able to do a special like this for the reasons you guys have already alluded to. I wish I could just forget about this until Thursday at about 8:59.

Also, any chance that this "LeBron special" doubles as the opening news conference? So the travel plans of the GM/Coach of whichever teams he is signing with would be a huge tip-off. They'd obviously be there to "introduce" him/take part in the interview/present him with his new jersey.

I find it impossible to believe that he would have a live one-hour special to announce he was throwing another nail into the Cleveland sports coffin. Impossible.

Those Windhorst tweets make me wonder though.

By the same token, why would he hold an hour special to say "nothing's changing. I'm staying where I am." That would be one hell of a LeBron Circle Jerk to last an hour if that's all he has to say.

It is feeling more and more like a very New York thing to do.

So, everybody not name James or to a lesser degree Maverick Carter, are in the dark as to where James is going.

I don't see the Knicks, but unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me if he stuns everybody and picks New Jersey.

It may have that feel, but James knows he ain't winning a championship with Dan Tony and Amar'e.

hypothetically speaking, if he announces on thursday evening, will i be able to wear my james bulls jersey shirt to my cousin's wedding outside of cleveland on saturday?

I don't know.... the more I think about it, I don't think it's the Knicks. I just can't get past Bosh's twitter comment and then the LeBron news like 3 hours later. I think they're going somewhere together, and that would eliminate NY.

I think it's the Heat, Bulls,or Nets. If you don't believe the superteam possibilty, then I think we're in good shape. So, do you believe the Heat possibilty?

Posted
No. It just doesn't seem realistic at all. I understand these guys wanting to play together, but one of them would be missing out on a ton of money to do so. Plus it just doesn't seem too likely that LeBron would go to a team that already has someone like Wade "leading" them. That's Wade's team.

the only player i see taking a discount is wade, and that's a hometown discount of making less than the max he would get in miami. again, i'm a total bulls homer, but i don't see the bulls getting shut out. the cubs fan in me fears the worst in every situation, but the bulls are sitting pretty. they're clearly the best of the bunch who cleared their rosters to prepare for this offseason. a shutout is unlikely.

My opinion will change over and over before the Thursday LeBron James Bachelor Finale, but right now ...

With the force out of World Wide Wes, who was apparently pushing the Bulls, I would rule Chicago out

Also, Wes was apparently pushing the Bulls because he thought they were the best shot at mulitple championships. Which makes me think LeBron and/or his people are more interested in the LeBron Brand. If so, he's not going to someone else's team. See ya, Miami.

So it's the Knicks, the Nets or the Cavs.

The Jay-Z connection is the only reason I'm not ruling out the Nets. Roster-wise, they're in a pretty good situation, better than the Knicks, but until they get into Brooklyn, it would be like balling in basketball purgatory. I don't see it.

Brand-wise, it's hard to get much better than Madison Square Garden. But they've been so mismanaged for so long, and outside of LeBron, they really look bare. I guess Eddy Curry's deal expires after this year, but trading in Lee for Amare is totally lateral, so the team itself isn't much better now than it was at the end of the season. I guess there's a chance he goes here, but it still doesn't seem likely.

Which leaves the Cavs. He can sign a 3-year deal, look like a hero, like he's giving his home team one more shot, and then bounce in 3 seasons while he's still young enough to do this all over again. Plus, it's a devil you know over the devil you don't situation. I have to imagine he's basically running things there as it is, and by pretty much keeping that franchise from heading back to hell, whatever reigns he doesn't have right now anyway would probably be handed over to him.

I'd say 70% Cleveland, 25% Knicks, 5% Nets.

I'd say 95% Cavs, 2.5% Bulls, 2.5% Nets.

The announcement of a special wrapped around his presser screams Cavs to me, mostly because it would seem like rubbing in the face of his hometown fans otherwise. I won't rule out the Bulls because it does constitute his best shot at winning and being the man, or the Nets because of Jay-Z. The Knicks are an unmitigated disaster, and I will absolutely floored if he chooses them.

i got it all wrong, wade and bosh are the good guys and lebron is hollywood. he's going to come out and introduce his new partners, wade and bosh and then announce they're all gonna play in miami and be managed by a mystery superstar agent, wearing a mask. while they're all parading around the stage hands clasped and held high the agent will secretly remove his mask to reveal that it's wes, who will then throw powder into the faces of the chumps, noah will jump up on stage and start beating them with a chair, lebron drops a couple of legs, yada yada yada, queue up the sirius and the pelting of the half-filled beers and other garbage and it's everyone's worst nightmare except chicago's.

It would be awesome to have Lebron in Chicago, but if he doesn't come and as long as the "superteam" thing doesn't happen the Bulls could still make out pretty well in FA. Adding one of D-Wade/Ray Allen and one of Chris Bosh/David Lee/Carlos Boozer would still make them a title contender.
