I know. I never said it wasn't. It was a very convincing series against a great team. They absolutely earned it. RedFlash just likes making it seem like I'm insulting the team when I'm not.

Take off your Wings jersey when you post in here please.

This means nothing but I'll pad my post count anyways :). Had a dream last night that we lost in game 7 after the Flyers scored a go ahead goal with less then a minute left in the game.

That would suck and I hope that doesn't happen.

So, question of the day while we're waiting for Saturday anyway...

What do you think the biggest goal of the playoffs has been for the Hawks so far?

Personally, I have to go with the Kane shortie in game 5 of the Nashville series, because without that, I don't think the Hawks win the first round.

One of those in that Nashville game. Either the Kaner shortie or the Hossa game winner right out of the box.

I was flipping my lid. Neighbors probably thought about calling a paddy wagon :)

Are you sure you werent watching a replay of the Flyers-Hawks game earlier in the year where Huet gave up the game tying and game winning goals in the last 2 minutes of the game, the last coming with 3 seconds left? If you want to talk about moments where we lost the number 1 seed, that's a good one right there. Good thing it doesnt matter anymore.

I've never implied you were insulting the Hawks. If you took it that way, then I'm sorry, but that wasn't what I was trying to say. To me, it seemed you were trying to defend the Sharks. The reality is, how the Sharks played against the Hawks has been the playoff M.O. for the last few years.

Even if San Jose gets to take away those three goals, in two of the games they still need to score one to turn those into wins. In order to give them a lead in the series, you have to posit a two-goal swing in the actual results. I'd call that domination, especially considering that they couldn't score at all.

I don't think anyone could say anything besides Kane's shortie. Without that, they are down 3-2 and heading on the road.

Here's something interesting....did you know Christina Aguilera sang the National Anthem before Game 2 of the 92 Finals in Pittsburgh?

http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/05/aguileras-anthem-at-1992-stanley-cup-finals.html

The Pens only had four players on the blue line for the anthem. Any idea who the 5th skater was who came on the ice as it ended?

jagr because he didn't speak english and thought it was crazy american disco song?

They didn't dominate from whistle to whistle, but they were in control at all times and rarely trailed. I'd say that was as close to domination as you can get in a conference finals without shutting the opponent out every game.

Tab Bamford with a great pre-series writeup.

he talks about the injuries on the teams the flyers faced, but makes no mention that the flyers were missing their top scorer for all of round two and 3 games of the conference final, and missing simon gagne for a few games in round two. plus the flyers have been playing the entire postseason with backup goalies. he talks about how the teams the flyers played were weak offensively, but makes no mention that the teams the blackhawks beat were weaker defensively (goals against) than the teams the flyers faced.

also, it's dumb to say that focusing pronger "and company" on the kane-toews-buff line could be a grave mistake. pronger and carle always play against the other team's top line. if they could play 60 minutes i'm sure they would, but you want your best defensive pairing to go up against the other team's best forwards. timonen and coburn will likely play against the second line most of the time, and some combo of the four will play against the other two lines. krajicek and parent will probably be stapled to the bench for the vast majority of the game.

i guess it's a great article if you want to read something written by someone who is clearly rooting for the blackhawks.

We'll be hosting a series of podcasts between Tab and a Philly sports guy (I'm unclear on the details still) to have a more balanced report. :D

According to on-line bookmaker, Bet365.com, the Hawks are listed at odds of 4/11 meaning a $100 wager would return you a profit of $36.36.

I've seen 5/12 over at sportsbook.com. I'm not sure if that's better or worse. The gambler in me thinks these are way too high and that the Flyers are a good value bet.

Pronger and Richards at +1000 each for the Conn Smythe look like great value too.

This series kinda scares me. I think both teams are peaking right now. Blackhawks and Flyers both have won 8 of their last 9. The Hawks have scored at least 4 goals 6 times during the last 9. The Flyers have allowed 2 or fewer goals in 6 of the 9.

Hot goaltending usually trumps offense in the playoffs. Then you throw in the whole Hossa factor. I'm nervous about hockey for the first time in my life.

The assistant editor for the Philadelphia Daily News did a Flyers Q&A...

Chuck, who would you rather have Richards and Carter or Kane and Toews?

Chuck Bausman: Interesting question. Toews strikes me as a leader in the Clarke (maybe Richards) mold. Kane can score goals and he's only 21. I'd probably stick with Richards and Carter.

Good! lol
