Nice rally by the boys today...we're far from a complete team yet, but I'm starting to get a better feeling about this team...Oh yeah, and welcome to dominance Mr. Marmol!

Okay, serious question.

When we have 'good Marmol' where would you rank his stuff in all of baseball?

Top 5? It's unhittable if he's around the zone

Has to be. 96MPH fastball with movement and an absolutely unhittable slider.

well marmol's H/9 IP is 4.81 since 2007; the next-best figure (minimum 150 IP) is 6.01. so it may be fair to say that he's the most unhittable pitcher in baseball.

Our offense should be in good shape once Aramis heats up. Oh and Chad Tracy has been horrible so far. How much longer until we call up a guy like Hoffpauir or Snyder?

If Tracy keeps on doing what hes doing, and Hoff, Snyder, or someone of the like starts heating up, Im sure a change will be made. Early on, Bobby Scales and Bryan LaHair(whoever he is) have been the only really hot I Cubs. Hoffs been OK, with a .856 OPS and 2 HR, but Snyders got a .067/.067/.133 line going for him.

Mike Fontenots actually been doing OK for himself so far. However, Bakers been better, and Im thinking its time to give him the lions share of time at 2B.

Why can't you be happy with the platoon the way it is? Fontenot has been hitting so far, if you think Baker would be hitting right handed pitching as well as Fontenot has, well, I really dont know what to tell you.

Then again you have a different "Flavor of the Week" every other day so I dont know why Im wasting my time.

The platoon is working perfectly so far. Baker has been so good partially because he's getting at-bats against left-handers. He's not the same hitter against right-handers and getting the lion's share of playing time would make his numbers worse.

The 2B platoon should be the least of our worries right now. Both Baker and Fontenot have been fine so far.

Then we can give Fontenot the Tiger's share.

*ba dum psh* I've been waiting a while for that one.

Comments from bf.net (sorry guys you do it with our forum when you get the upper hand):

Holy crap, Is Hawkins capable of NOT throwing the ball RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE when he's got two strikes on a guy?

Bring back Yost.

Don't panic...just get a couple guys on base for Zaun

Ha. At this point leaving him in is funny. Let's see how high we can run up his pitch count.

Yeah, they are definately NSBBesque over there at bf.net/

How is pointing out how relatively quickly he runs hot and cold over players a personal attack?

Yea no [expletive]. Every time you turn around hes saying "this player should be benched for this guy, because he went 2-4 in the last game". Fontenot and Baker both have done a fine job at 2nd base so far, there is no reason to mess with it. Start giving Baker a lot of time vs RH pitching or Fontenot vs LH pitching, and then we will start having problems. They have done exactly what you want out of a platoon.

God on Lou for sort of sticking up for Soriano.

?

Basically talking down how much booing he's getting.

Ah gotcha. The boo'ing is out of hand already with Soriano, and its not going to get any better. It really is a joke when Soriano could go 3-4 with 3 RBI's but let him strike out that 4th at bat and the idiots at Wrigley will be boo'ing.

I "get" when people boo him if he has one of his outfield screw ups or if he has a game where he keeps coming up in key situations and does nothing, but it's gotten to the point where he's booed for almost every out he makes or or almost any hit to LF. It's just stupid.

This was probably the best game I've ever attended (and stayed the whole time). Game 2 of the 2003 NLCS was a better atmosphere, but the game wasn't so much great as it was fun.

The Soriano booing was a little crazy, but he didn't do himself any favors in the outfield today. Booing him at the plate, though, was a little silly considering at that point (the 5th), he had the only decent hit of the day to that point for the Cubs.
