that's a weird way of saying he got six guys to hit the ball weakly

Weakly hit balls are still a risk of turning into hits.

10% home runs, 20% walks, 10% strikeouts, 60% contact is always going to be a recipe for bad.

60% is great if you're getting popups. there's no reason to look at this in a vacuum when we all just saw what happened. maybe the game looks different on a 15" computer monitor, but zambrano was fine besides the hr that inning.

throwing the ball over the third baseman is not fine.

Ah i remember why i dont do game threads, the amount of panic over 1 inning when there is AT LEAST 1457 innings left and 161 more games. Just a reminder, the cubs lost the opener in both 2007 and 2008 and lost the first 2 in 2008. In 2006 they slaughtered the reds, just saying opening day has little to do with the rest of the year.

all those seasons ended exactly the same way though

You have to miss bats to be effective. You also have to not walk 20% of the guys you face.

I don't see what's so hard about saying he was both bad and unlucky.

Ballgame. I'm out.

This is why I need to stop looking forward to things. It always ends in disappointment. If I think bad things will happen, then I don't get pissed off when they do, and if they don't it's a nice surprise.
