I think I like the out-of-shape Z better....way to take advantage of that lead ace!

what a bum... he gave up one hard hit ball in a 6 run inning

THERIOT

>:-(

Yeah, it didn't take long for me to remember that I don't like Theriot. My guess is he'll rack up a solid negative UZR number this year after last year's decent showing on D.

Well, I expected no less from Z on opening day (why do they even start him on opening day? one win out of six, really?) but on the bright side we get to see what Marshall can do as essentially a second starter and we're only down another Marlon Byrd 3-run HR?

Theriot started that cluster [expletive] of an inning, catch that flyball and it could be a completely different outcome. Z looked decent, they had 3-4 hits that totaled less distance than Heyward's homerun that inning and they were all hit extremely weakly.

I imagine we are only a couple years away from Ryan moving off of shortstop to a spot he can actually play.

My son was born last Tuesday, I guess I should go ahead and change the station to avoid getting him hooked on the Cubs. What should I do?

Do everything in your power to make sure he doesn't grow up a Cubs fan if you truly love him.

So who should I turn him onto?

Marshall or Silva time? Z is laboring.

if we pull zambrano every time he gives up one hard hit ball, he's going to throw 41 innings this year

What about when he gives up two walks and a home run in an inning?

(also, the single up the middle was hard-hit).

No it wasn't, it bounced 5 [expletive] times before reaching the OF and it didn't even reach Byrd in CF.

You know, I really hate when idiots bitch and moan at the pitcher in innings like this, they just show how completely ignorant they are about the game of baseball.

Your pitcher faced 10 batters.

He walked 2, struck out 1, gave up 1 home run and allowed six balls in play.

That's not 54.00 ERA bad, but it's bad.

I don't have it on TV, but all I'm reading is single to shallow OF, single to shallow OF, single ON A POP UP. Looks to me like he walked a couple gave up a big HR, and got dinked and dunked.

that's exactly what happened. it'd be cool if he didn't walk the leadoff hitter, but the home run was really the only bad thing that z did in the first.

Pretty much... this is why half the board stops doing game threads after a week or two.

of the 6 balls in play, 2 possibly could have been caught for an out

I am hoping more for AAA shortstop.

Naturally, they get 5 duck fart hits that inning and Soto hits one exponentially harder than any of their hits and Chipper makes a play on it.

Saying he allowed six balls in play really obfuscates the impact of said balls.
