I mean, Silver's numbers place Minnesota at 28, which is higher then any other Pac school other then USC (17) or UCLA (25). Granted, U of MN is one of the largest schools int he country (65k when I was there), that says a lot for a program that has had maybe 3 winning seasons in the last 15 years.

MN was one that jumped out at me. Other than you, I've never met a MN fan outside the state. Even if they have that many fans, how many are watching cfb (or the gophers)?

The Minneapolis/St. Paul area is a good sized market on its own merit, though, and the fans there are largely hockey/football fans. The Vikings are probably the primary draw, but U of Minnesota is the only decent game in town as colleges go.

pretty much this. 3 mil metro area with 1 Div 1 school in the area. Tons of Wisconsin transfers as well do to a reciprocity program with Wisconsin.

But its not a decent game. Those fans aren't cfb fans (or not gopher fans anyway).

So there are more Wisconsin fans on MSP than gopher fans? I'd agree with that.

no, but the influx of Wisconsinites attending Minnesota and vise/versa keeps the interest level in football very high.

It may not make logical sense, but even minimal sports fans out there are pretty crazy about the Gophers. I have a bunch of relatives in the area that follow no sports except the Gophers football and basketball (and Minnesota-Duluth hockey...I did say they were crazy).

PowerMizzou.com has learned through sources that Missouri is squarely in the SEC's crosshairs as the potential 14th team. Our sources have indicated that the SEC wants Mizzou as No. 14, but is willing to wait on the implosion of the Big 12 Conference before making any moves if necessary.

...

Sources with knowledge of Missouri's situation told PowerMizzou.com that the SEC is willing to wait on the Tigers and to let the situation with the Big 12 play out before making a move.

Officially getting my hopes up.

Bc you want to be in the SEC or bc any seat is better than none? I figure Missouri ends up in the bigx.

Big Ten would be my first choice but I don't know how realistic it is right now. If SEC comes at us with an offer now, I would hope we'd take it instead of waiting around for a Big Ten offer that might not come.

I'd welcome Texas A&M and Missouri to the SEC. Both are top 100 schools academically and are solid in all facets.

Top 100 is kind of large group. Where is Missouri at? I know we're in most top 20/25 lists I see. I don't follow this all that closely, though.

Probably wouldn't have joined the sec if you'd have known such morons would be allowed in too.

I'm not really concerned with another school's academics unless it gives them a recruiting advantage.

I guess I usually see Top 25 PUBLIC schools lists. Missouri barely cracks the Top 100 public schools list from what I found, well below Texas Tech and they are a Tier 3 school.

I was looking at this ranking...Texas A&M is 58 and Missouri in the 90s...

in fairness, i only call missouri a cow college because they were founded by a cow.

Oklahoma says they'll stay in the Big 12 if Dan Beebe is fired.

Awesome.

It'd be great if OU and Texas hang out and things settle a bit. But that's probably not enough to keep Missouri happy if the bigx or sec come calling.

I feel like a declaration that big/dramatic/preposterous by Oklahoma kind of tips their hand towards the Pac-12. They've got to be gone at this point.

Why would they say that if they were already gone? What's the purpose of a noisy exit?

I'm not buying that, plus Pitt and Cuse are forcing the issue even more assuming they still go to the SEC. The conference won't last with 9 member with others growing to 14, and adding the quality is becoming that much more difficult. If you could bring in ND that would cause a chain reaction, but thats not happening either.

It's going to be a noisy exit anyways.

They know the Big 12 isn't going to fire Dan Beebe because they asked them to. They're throwing out ridiculous demands just because.

Even if they did fire Dan Beebe I don't know that it would matter now.

That list is absurd. Missouri blows Texas Tech out of the water, academically. As does KU.
