I think you can take away some things from that stuff. The part about B10 negotiating with Big East about guiding ND to B10 in exchange for not raiding the rest of the conference makes sense to me.

I guess I'll put this here since it seems to be the overall expansion thread.

Jimmy Hyams of WNML-AM 990 in Knoxville — citing a source close to CBS — has reported that SEC commissioner Mike Slive has already met with officials from that network regarding his league’s plan for expansion.

Those plans, as Slive has stated publicly, are contingent upon the Big Ten making a major move that would change the balance of power in college athletics.

According to Hyams, Slive told CBS executives in a recent meeting that the league’s goal would be to keep pace with a 16-team Big Ten by pursuing Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State and Clemson.

If Texas and Texas A&M cannot be lured in, then Miami and Georgia Tech will join Florida State and Clemson on the SEC’s wish list.

In the latter case, the league’s goal would be to “own the region.”

everybody wants texas...ugh. im starting to get a really bad feeling about mizzou.

Me too

His feeling is new, you've had your jealousy for a while now.

As for Mizzou, there's probably a lot more scenarios that don't leave them in the cold than those that do. If the Pac-10 grabs those 6, then the Big 10 pretty much has to jump to at least 14, making it pretty unlikely Mizzou doesn't get invited. We've already seen scenarios with Mizzou and Texas going to the Big 10. If the Big 10 goes to 14 or 16 with Texas and without Mizzou, the Pac-10 might look Mizzou's way. Basically, the worst case in any scenario is that the Big 10 offers 3-5 teams and Mizzou isn't one of them. Given everything that's been said so far, I don't think that's highly probable. Worrisome that there's a chance that it could happen, but I'm not pessimistic about it.

This is true. If the Pac 10 goes the 16, I can't see the Big 10 and SEC not expanding either, and probably to 16 team leagues. And then the ACC and Big East combine, thus leading to the four super conferences. In that scenario I don't see Mizzou being left out, but I am really hoping to join the Big Ten.

Texas has already turned down the SEC or at least made it clear they are not interested. I have heard that the SEC may look to invite A&M and OU to join. Texas is apparently threatening to not play A&M in any sport if we go to the SEC without them. It is a weak threat that would not stop us at this point. The sticking point with Texas to the PAC-10 is that they want their own TV network which multiple schools are balking at. I think Texas backs down on that demand and the Big 12 South, minus Baylor & plus Colorado, ends up joining the PAC-10.

I have a really hard time seeing the Pac 10 taking a loser school like Texas Tech.

You're right about Texas to the SEC, Texas would form its own conference before going there.

There's always a Tech problem.

There's always a Tech problem.

ESPN.com[/url]"]The conference, amid a chorus of story lines that would all significantly change the face of big-league college sports, has imposed a deadline of Friday for Nebraska and Missouri to state their intentions on whether they intend to bolt for the Big Ten, with the possibility of an extension for a decision by next Tuesday, The Austin American-Statesman has reported, citing two sources.

The Big 12's university presidents decided on imposing the ultimatum, two highly placed officials within two of the conference schools said, according to the newspaper.

"Nebraska has until 5 p.m. on Friday to tell us what they're going to do," one school official said, according to the The American-Statesman. "The same deal for Missouri. They have to tell us they're not going to the Big Ten."

A Dallas Morning News report also cited a deadline for the Cornhuskers but said it was within two weeks.

The Big XII must think Texas is already out the door if they're putting a deadline on Missouri and Nebraska while its cash cow has been rumored to be the choice of almost every major conference.

And really, what is the Big XII going to do if Missouri and Nebraska don't comply?

Political forces in the state of Texas are preparing to demand that Baylor -- not Colorado -- should be one of the schools in the mix should the Pac-10 extend an invitation to six Big 12 schools to join its ranks, according to Orangebloods.com.

Earlier in the week, the website reported that the Pac-10 is planning to extend invitations to Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado.

Nice work, Texas. Way to work hard on the things that really matter.

If they want some sort of pledge, then Mizzou and Nebraska can say whatever they want and still leave if/when the offer comes.

If they want some sort of contract that penalizes them if they leave, then I'm really skeptical about the legality of "sign this promising to (presumably) pay us an unholy sum of money if you do something in your best interest".

No real surprise, they stepped in after the SWC. But yeah screw Baylor they can join SMU and Rice to form whatever they want.
