Liked the Wright and Wooton picks. Thought the Moore pick was a need, so it's OK I guess, just haven't heard or seen enough about him yet. Hated the Lefevour pick with a passion. Especially when Angelo had said earlier in the week, that he wanted to draft 5 guys that could contribute this year.

On the other hand, the Webb pick intrigues the hell out of me. He was a 4 star recruit coming out of high school and played every game for Texas at OLT as a true freshman. He got into some academic trouble there, went to JC with the intent on going back to Texas, but didn't get his grades up enough to get back in. He's an absolute freak athletically. His cousin is Richmond Webb, who said he was going to be a beast in the NFL. He never allowed a sack in college and played for a team that AVERAGED 700 yards or so per game. I'm really interested to see what this guy can do. He may be a project, but this guys upside is humongous evidently.

UDFA Signing:

Freddie Barnes WR Bowling Green

Quentin Scott S Northern Iowa

Matt Mayberry LB Indiana

Brandon Moore ??? Michigan*

*expected to sign FA deals with the Bears shortly.

Brandon Minor. Running back from Michigan. Good power back, but can't seem to ever stay healthy. Good to see him get picked up by an NFL team, with it being a plus that it's the Bears.

Brad Biggs said Brandon Moore on twitter. And looking at Michigan's roster, I think Biggs got the two mixed up.

I think I'd give us a C+ OR B- myself. We drafted for need with Wright obviously and got a guy in Wootton who dropped further than what he should have. So those are the pluses. Moore was a need pick as well, but there were higher guys on the board. Lefevour was a stupid pick, if you ask me anyway. Neither Angelo or Lovie is likely to be around to see any of the possible fruit that it could eventually bare.(my guess is it won't bare anything though). I love the Webb pick, but there's only so excited you can get over a 7th rounder until you see him in training camp.

I give the draft a grade of B.

I was very surprised by the LeFevour pick but it doesn't bother me that much. Cutler isn't made of steel. If he has to sit out a game or two I rather have just about anyone but Hanie and Basanez. I don't think it will take long for LeFevour to work his way to #2 on the depth chart.

And I too love the 7th round pick. I hope we hang onto him.

I went to High School (Hinsdale South) with Matt Mayberry. I saw him play growing up... He played as a full back. Was amazing.

I'm excited that the Bears signed him.

I see the Bears offer Juice Williams a tryout opportunity. For those who have followed his career, what kind of athlete us Juice? I doubt he'll make it as a QB in the NFL, but he follow in the footsteps of say Antwaan El, and Brad Smith as former college QBs turns NFL WR/PR/athlete?

Chicago Bears

Summary: Chicago was absent for two rounds, but tried to address needs when they entered the picture. The Bears neither reached nor got amazing value in Major Wright, the Florida safety. But they needed a safety, and Wright has a real chance to fill that void. Corey Wootton wasn't 100 percent in 2009 after coming off a bad knee injury, and could be a camp surprise. A decent pick. Overall, like any team stuck outside the top two rounds, the Bears were hard-pressed to find impact talent, but they were resourceful given their limitations. (The late add of a local quarterback never hurts.)

juice is a college spread-option power quarterback. he's very mechanical in his throws, his arm is amazing, but his release and decision-making are very slow. he sucks at short throws, good at deep ones, average at the intermediates. he doesn't have the speed of randle-el or brad smith and cannot play wide receiver, has never returned kicks or punts, nor would anyone want him to. his ability lies in his strength as a runner, and for a power back, he's got average elusiveness. he runs over people, not around them.

if there were a special roster exemption for the wildcat quarterback, he'd be a nice fit, but there isn't. he's got virtually zero chance of ever making an NFL roster.

Thx. I was trying to think outside the box with Juice. Maybe he is destined for a team like the Chicago Rush or Chicago Slaughter.

He was a solid LB for IU too. I'm also glad the Bears are giving him a shot.

I don't watch a lot of MAC football but that Freddie Barnes guy we signed as an UDFA was unstoppable last year.

He had 155 receptions for 1,770 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2009.

Barnes was huge statistically, but I don't think he translates to the NFL very well. He has very few physical advantages and is downright slow for a WR. The few chances he had against BCS defenses did not go very well for him.

You're prolly right, but it doesn't hurt to take a look at the kid.

Angelo says the Bears to open to adding a veteran back-up QB.

I don't see why thats necessary in addition to drafting LeFevour. They're obviously displeased with Hanie and Basanez.

I don't know about that. They could conceivably sign a back up veteran, still keep Hanie, have 3 QBs on the roster, and keep LeFevour around on the practice squad.

I think I'd prefer to have 2 QBs again, so it comes down to Hanie vs other veteran (I've heard them linked the McCown) as the backup, with LeFevour on the Practice Squad.

Thanks. Good to see the experts think we had a halfway decent draft. It's hard to get an A when you don't have a pick in the first 2 rounds.

If LeFevour shows anything he'll be snatched up by someone else when the Bears try to sneak him to the practice squad. The Vikings drafted Tyler Thigpen in the 7th round a few years ago, he had a decent camp, they tried to put him on the practice squad and the Chiefs signed him so he could start games for them in a year.

i'm thinking it's very intriguing to imagine him at full-back, though. a big back that could take direct snaps might be an interesting weapon.
