Two strategies for today.

If one of the top 4 I named are on the board at say 105, I'd look to trade up giving up a 6th, which should be plausible w/ a team just moving down a few spots. Then I'd take the 5th and move down to get a late 5th and a 6th.

Or I'd stay pat at 109, then look to trade the 5th to get into the late 4th. Then I'd trade down in the 6th and look to get an extra pick late.

Who are we hoping the Bears will draft tomorrow?

If he's there, I'd take Bruce Campbell. It's hard to pass up on his upside. PLus, the OL prospects are few and far between at this point.

Other than that, I'm looking at CBs Dominique Franks and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, and DEs Everson Griffen, Corey Wootten and Brandon Lang.

Bears pick 11th in the 4th....this would be my draft board going into tomorrow:

1. Campbell

2. Franks

3. Griffen

4. Owusu-Ansah

5. Wootten

6. Geno Atkins

7. Selvish Capers

8. Lang

9. Reshad Jones

10 Al Woods

11 Perish Cox

I'm really hoping for one of the first 4.

I agree on Campbell. The Bears would have to be stupid to pass on a 1st rd talent in the fourth round in Campbell, but alas I could see any team picking in front of the Bears taking Campbell. Which means the Bears MIGHT have to trade up to get Campbell, Franks, or Griffen.

But a Williams/Campbell bookend tackles would be pretty sweet, if both are developed nicely.

Angelo indicated he was surprised Maryland's Bruce Campbell remained available but said the Bears were not interested in him.

Oakland took Campbell. Guess that saves me from getting extremely pissed when Angelo inevitably passed on him.

i think that the bears are set on williams and omiyale at the tackles, they're looking guard and i think they take one here, maybe the guy from texas tech

I'm ok with that.

Oakland just traded up to get the pick before the Bears.

Awesome pick. This guy is a monster (6'7 280 lbs) and finished the season nicely last year. This team always seems to pickup a DE each draft regardless of how the position is looking. With Brown gone, this is a good pick. We've seen before that Anderson as a starter didn't work, while Idonije, Melton, and Gilbert are still unknowns at DE. Gilbert is still listed as DT though right?

I would have gone w/ one of the corners, but Wootten was the 5th best player on my board today, and 2 of them were gone when the Bears picked. I think Wootten is a solid pick. Was a potential 1st round pick last year, but tore his ACL in the Senior Bowl.

Jets are going to cut Faneca on Monday. Wonder if he is an option for the Bears. I think he's still pretty solid and you could get 2 decent seasons from him while you develop another OG (Lance Louis, John Asiata) that's already on the roster.

sounds like a 3-4 end, definitely not a tampa-2 end.

i'd prefer him over beekman.

but i thought richie incognito would be a perfect fit for this team and they passed. shows what i know.

Everything I've read says he can fit into any system. Also, most of the mocks I've seen have him going in the second round, third at the latest. I think this is a case of getting the best player left on the board.

We lost 3 DEs this offseason in Ogun, Adams, and Brown. Peppers is one player. I don't mind that pick so much, although I find myself wondering once again what the plan is to improve the oline and better protect our franchise player.

A few things on Wootton

-Corey said he likely would have left for the NFL had he not torn his ACL in the Alamo Bowl a year and half ago. He would have been a 2nd round pick at worst.

-He was nowhere near 100% during his senior season last year. He came back too soon and was also hampered by an ankle injury in the middle of the season. He probably finished his career at Northwestern in Tampa at 70% or so. He's much healthier right now.

-It took him a while to even start to grow into his frame. He got a medical hardship waiver his freshman year after injuring his neck. He wasn't able to do much physical activity. He'll still be able to bulk up a bit.

-I think he has a good chance of having far more of an impact on the pro level than he did in college if he stays healthy.

-99% of Northwestern fans still don't know how to spell his name.

Do the Bears have or are they willing to spend money on him? I have no idea just wondering because cutting Brown seemed to be about the budget.

I'm hoping the Vikings sign him for RG and bench Herrera.

Wootton sounds like a guy who will deal with injuries his entire career. If he's healthy he sounds like he could be a stud, but that's a big if.

Regardless, Angelo's constant avoidance of adding to the offensive line is alarming.

maybe they're still targeting brandon carter for his pass blocking and figure that they can get hin in the 5th or 6th.

they cut brown because they thought that they had cheaper options that could be as effective.

Wootton is solid value here but damn it all, the Bears offensive line still blows.
