This is a game the Bears could win. They always seem to play well against Philly. Other than 2001 of course. Although Jackson is definitely burning our secondary for at least one play over 50 yards.

Driving in to work this morning there was a promo for the game from Westwood 1.

Let's just say they were struggling to come up with stuff to make the game seem interesting.

The Bears are only 1 game out of 5th place in the NFC, which would be a wildcard spot. The problem is they currently have to jump 6 teams, and are on the wrong side of the tiebreaker with 3 of them head-to-head losses and are 1.5 games behind all but one of them (Giants) vs. the conference.

A 9-7 Bears team might win a wildcard spot, but being 2-4 vs. the NFC means those 2 losses have to be vs. Baltimore (the only AFC opponent remaining) and Minnesota. The Bears can't afford to lose to more than 1 NFC team, can't afford to lose to teams they are competing with for the wildcard (Philly, GB), and can't afford to lose to Detroit or St. Louis for my sanity.

Yeah, my thought process is that the Bears can't be 9-7 and make the wildcard with the tiebreaker losses they have been racking up. I know they *can*, but I would think the strong likelihood is that they need 10-6 to get in.

Which means they can lose one more game this year and have a likely postseason appearance.

I'm going to stop right there because if I continue it will just be negative stuff.

I like how he blames the Bears being a running team on their QB struggles. He obviously hasn't watched any Bears football this year.

Isn't the point that they emphasize the run only and use the passing game as an afterthought? They went out and got a big time QB this offseason, but they still have an incompetent offensive coordinator who has been in the NFL and big ten college football for 2 decades and has yet to be involved in the development of a good QB. And they gave him no receivers. It's sort of like ignoring the offensive line for over half a decade, then spending one first rounder on a guy and pretending you've solved the problem. Lovie still talks about this team being a running team, even though that's a joke. They live in a bygone era where winning and losing is all about running the ball, when in fact passing has dominated this league for a very long time. Teams like New England don't even pretend to emphasize the run. Chicago still tries to act like they are a running team and are really only begrudgingly going all pass due to running incompetence.

They need to embrace their passing ways. They need a real QB coach, a real offensive coordinator, a quality line and better weapons at receivers.

Yes, I think his main point was that the Bears don't have much of an emphasis on the passing game as an organization, which is why they suck at it.

.....I think we've been talking about that on this board for years.

They'll use the Lovie Plan: play about 20 yards off him and give him all the room in the world for shorter routes. If they don't beat us long, they'll kill us with a thousand shorter passes.

Exactly right.

Mike Brown AFC defensive player of the week.

Watch that guy be healthy for a full season this year. *sigh*

From what I understand he's not having all that great a year though. Admittedly, I prefer knitting to watching the Chiefs play football.

Yeah...it's the first I've really heard his name mentioned this year. It's just in vogue to lament the players we've let go..

I think we got this one. The Eagles are 0-7 all time on NBC's Sunday Night Football.

And the Bears primetime sruggles have all been on the road. However, Philly can throw the ball and they dominate the turnover game - the two things that have doomed the Bears this year. Philly should win this game, but hopefully they screw it up.

And that's where McNabb excels at the bounce pass!

We got this one.

I'll take that bet. The only satisfaction I could possibly walk away with in this game would be if Wale ripped Michael Vick's head off with an accidentally on purpose clothesline.
