stupid question, but does UZR factor in an outfielders arm?

I think it is, though indirectly - i.e. it measures outs recorded in the fielder's area and assists would likely be part of that. Somebody like Rob or TT would be able to answer more thoroughly and accurately, though.

It includes their arm.

Edit:

dew made me feel like my answer should include a bit more, so...

It breaks down how often a player has thrown out an advancing runner compared to the league average, as well as how often the runners attempt to advance. Outfielders actually get credit if their arm is so scary that people dont even try running on them anymore.

Sorry about that, I knew you knew far more about the details of UZR than I did.

I'm just speculating here, but could it be the Yankees?

They just got a CF in Granderson. This would leave Melky as a corner OF, but they may feel that his production there is not enough. Could they be thinking of moving him for Bradley? The Cubs get a CF and the Yankees get a corner OF to replace Damon.

This is obviously unlikely, but could it would be surprise.

How about expanding the deal. The Yankees are kind of upset with Swisher, so maybe work a deal around him.

Cubs get: Swisher + Marte

Yankees get: Bradley + Marshall/Gorz + Colvin + Stevens/Berg/Atkins.

Money comes out pretty close - Swisher ($6.75, $9, $1 buyout), Marte ($4, $4, $.25), Bradley ($9, $12)

Bradley plays LF/RF/DH, Marshall/Gorz replace Marte, Colvin and Stevens/Berg/Atkins replace prospects given up in the Granderson trade.

Swisher plays 4th OF/PH/sub 1B and supplies power off the bench.

As others have posted, Bradley in NY would be entertaining. Not sure Girardi wants to deal with Bradley.

Soriano is a poor route runner, for the most part, but it seems like most of his gaffes come from balls lost in the sun.

The stupid hop of his probably just makes things worse for him if he fumbles a ball in the field. Even though he claims it's a timing thing, others view it as hot dogging, and everyone loves to see a hot dog in the field fumble a ball.

I can remember a couple that were not at all sun related. I think his gaffes are related to his being a moron.

Bradley in NY would be an unmitigated disaster, and I'm pretty sure everyone knows it.

I'm not sure why. NY likes feisty. They like good players. And they absolutely love guys who walk. If he starts 0-20 there could be trouble, but as long as he's halfway decent he'll just be one of several guys in a great lineup. If he gets thrown out arguing with an ump, they aren't going to be pissed at him, they are going to be with him. And as long as he can get Jeter on his side, he'd be gold. Unlike in Chicago this past year, Bradley will not be anywhere close to THE STORY of spring training. He won't have to be some savior.

It seems to me than scrutiny is the bane of Bradley's existence. Any amount of it, really. You're not going to get through a full season as a starter in NY, especially on the Yankees, without being the focus of some degree of scrutiny. Sure, he'll get lost in the mix a bit, but if he comes under fire, it'll be really bad.

Quite frankly, I think Milton just needs to go a laid back market.

And to be fair, I think the implication that Bradley was regarded as a savior for the Cubs last year is gross overstatement.

From here on out, no one should be allowed to post in this thread unless it's an update on a possible trade.

Perhaps instead of saying "from here on out" I should have used "starting after this post"?

Ive come to the conclusion that this off seasons Roberts/Peavy will be none other than Milron Bradley, but instead of spending it trying to aquire a player it will be trying to dump the player, and by the end of the offseason, he will still be a Cub.

So you're saying it'll be like the 2004-2005 offseason?

His acquisition was the feature story of the offseason and he absolutely was portrayed as a savorior by many who were convinced all the problems lied in their right handedness and lack of fire.

You qualify your statements well. Those "many who were convinced all the problems lied in their right handedness and lack of fire" entailed mainly Hendry, Bush, and Lou.

Most of the media was critical of Hendry for the signing and thought that he was taking a major gamble for the type of money the Cubs were spending on him. Not to mention that nearly every story pointed out Bradley's lengthy injury history, and perceived poor attitude.

The whole righthandedness garbage originated mainly from Lou.

Don't think for a second that there wasn't a large portion of Cubs fans readily buying what Lou was selling with regards to the team being to right-handed. The consensus opinion of NSBB posters is generally not a reflection of what the general population of Cubs fans believes.

but that would be a good thing

it sucks knowing that hendry's main goal right now is making the team worse, and then making small moves to try and make up for the bad move he had to make.

man, i can't believe that "75 games played to make the 3rd year vest" thing didn't protect us.
