True. Stevie Franchise was why I stayed a Rocket fan after Barkley retired. Up until that point I had always rooted for whatever team Barkley was on. Although Rockets fans and fans in general used to argue whether Francis was really a PG who a just a SG who handled the ball a lot. KInda of like when AI started getting called a PG.

And the difference isn't as great as you would think (surprised me when I looked it up). Francis averaged 21 pts in 41 minutes in his peak years to go with almost 7 assists. Brooks is averaging 18.3 and 7.7 in 36.7 minutes. Take that rate to the 41 minutes Francis played and you get 20.4 pts and 8.6 assists. Plus Francis shot in the low to mid 40's while Brooks is shooting .488.

Brooks has played 7 games this year, lets see if he can keep this pace up a bit first.

Of course, I'm just saying.

I always thought that the thunder wouldn't make the playoffs until next year but the way the thunder are playing right now they might be able to get the 8th seed this year. Right now the thunder would be a number seven seed and the second half of the thunder's schedule is easy since the schedule makers put all the hard games in the first half. Also, the thunder have the 3rd best defense in the league so far.

By the way, how are the bulls 4-2 when they give up four more points a game than they score? They're the only winning team that has a negative differential.

The Bulls have played one singular blowout game, a 118-90 loss in Boston on day 2 of the season.

And won their last 3 games by a combined 6 points.

That's video of James Harden dropping a dime to KD BETWEEN GORTAT'S LEGS.

Harden has struggled to get his shot going, but I think he might be the best passer in this draft class.

ESPN Future Power Rankings are out and as expected are wrong. Here's what they said about Houston.

Alas, Houston's roster going forward is not among the league's elite, ranking just 25th in our survey. Yao Ming is 29, and his future durability is a major question, and while youngsters Trevor Ariza, Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry and Kyle Lowry seem to be keepers, nobody expects them to turn into major stars.

Umm we have a very young roster that is already performing. The PG position is locked up for the future with Brooks, SF in Ariza and PF in Scola and Landry. That's 3 of 5 positions. We will have as much cap space as anyone with McGrady and Yao coming off the books next season. If we keep Yao we are set at 4 of 5 positions with roughly 20 mil from McGrady going away to spend on getting a great SG.

The part that pissed me off though is that they mentioned Ariza and Brooks and then said no one expects them to become stars. Umm one is averaging 19 pts 8 assists and the other is averaging 20-4-4. Brooks was a first round pick that many teams thought could turn into a great player but were scared off by his height. Ariza is a lengthy, talented player that a lot of experts have said can turn into a star.

Given Yao's size, lengthy injury history and age, you can't possibly say you're ever set at center with him on the roster.

Also, be careful to claim either Ariza or Brooks are stars based on a small sample of less than 10 games.

Wasn't saying they are stars. I'm saying that for someone to say that no one expects them ro be stars is incredibly idiotic considering they are currently performing like stars and one of them was a 1st round pick.

i'm having a hard time caring about the sixers. i'm generally not disposed to caring about the nba anyway, but the sixers just seem to be on this treadmill of mediocrity. i'd actually care more if they just went all-out bad but then built a base like okc has right now. iguodala is a nice player but in no way can be the star of a championship-caliber team. thaddeus young was a really good pick for where he went in the draft (#12), so were marreese speights (#16), lou williams (#45) and (in my opinion) jrue holliday (#17). but i just don't see the core as something that can win a championship or even seriously contend with teams like the lakers, celtics, cavs, magic, etc.

I like that they went back to their old jerseys and logo. That should mean something.

Why did the bulls want to get rid of Sefolosha? I know he was sitting behind gordon but you guys got rid of gordon after the season anyway. He's an absolute lock-down defender and he doesn't miss threes (he's shooting 67%). No matter i'm happy you guys gave us him for almost nothing.

to be fair, thabo's never shot this well and it's only been 12 shots this year anyway

but his defense has been much improved

Maybe, but if Taj Gibson turns out to be a Horace Grant type player for the Bulls, then I'm pleased with the deal. I'm glad he's doing good for you guys, but I'm not nor the Bulls losing any sleep over trading Thabo. You guys just have to hope that he isn't Trenton Hassell part 2.

he'll only be a starter for this year and maybe next year, after that harden is going to take over. Harden has looked really good so far. His downfall was supposed to be on the defensive end but so far i haven't seen anything but good defense from him.

also, harden just hit a half-court shot.

that halfcourt shot was huge, lots of momentum going into the second half now

i'd like to win tonight, i dont think we match up well with the clippers tomorrow, and i'd like to be 4-4 at least heading into the weekend

So far this game? I hope you're not talking for the year because 5 pts and 3 assists on 35% shooting is by no means "looked rally good so far." I think he's going to be good but he hasn't been able to hit his shot so far.

No, i'm saying that he looks really good so far because he is leading the NBA in assists to turnovers at 7 to 1. He is leading that stat by over 2 points. He is also 20th in the league in Assists per 48 minutes. This is coming from a backup who plays 15 minutes a game. I'd say that's pretty good.

Sure he's doing some things that look good but overall he hasn't played very well. Both those stats are good but both are helped by the amount he plays. A lot of none star guys are amongst the best in per 48 because they never have to play tired and mostly play against the other teams back ups. Joel Przybilla leads the league in rebounds per 48, DJ Mbenga is 7th in rebounds, Goran Dragic is 9th in assists, Sebastian Telfair (yeah him) is 13th in assists.

Like I said Harden has shown some promise (what do you expect of a top pick) but his start is very far off from "looked really good so far." He has not turned the ball over and been a pretty good passer that's it. The rest of his offensive game has been terrible. As for defense I haven't seen enough to know.

I would like to reiterate Carl Landry's 6th man chances. Through tonight's game he is averaging 15.6 pts, 5.4 rbs and 1 blk per game while shooting 57.6%.
Posted

PER through tonight's games:

1 Chris Paul

2 Chris Bosh

3 LeBron James

4 Marreese Speights

5 Kobe Bryant

6 Dwyane Wade

7 Manu Ginobili

8 Carmelo Anthony

9 Dwight Howard

10 Kevin Martin

11 Dirk Nowitzki

12 Tim Duncan

marreese speights??? well, he's averaging 14.4 ppg and 6.8 rpg in just 23.3 mpg, and he's shooting 63.5% from the field and 84% from the line. plus his turnover rate is low. he's lousy defensively (undersized for a center) and his defensive rebounding sucked last year (showing some improvement there so far), but he's pretty exciting when he's in the game.

Posted
not to linger on with the point but Harden just had another 8 assists and 5 rebounds while only having 1 turnover tonight. His scoring is down because he isn't asked to shoot the ball. Durant and Green get most of the shots with Kristic and Westbrook getting the shots after them. His points are going to be down all season or until he is asked to shoot. Also, when he does shoot the three he's shooting 53% like IMB said earlier

I wasn't criticizing how little he was scoring because I know he's not shooting much, however, he still is shooting just 37%. He has looked promising (especially as a passer like you pointed out) but he hasn't been great so far.

Anyways speaking of rookies Stephen Curry looks like he will be a great PG. Shooting very well and averaging almost 6 assists to just 2 turnovers.
