VC goes down with an ankle injury, its just like Grant Hill all over again. :banghead:

Still headed toward a pretty easy win on the road against the Nets. If we can get our ideal lineup of Howard, Nelson, Carter, Lewis, and Pietrus/Anderson/Bass on the floor regularly, this team should win 60.

What is your opinion on Redick?

2-0 baby! Durant and Russ both go for double-doubles again and all is well in the world.

At one point last year we were 3-29. Now we're an upset Sunday away from having that many wins in the first week of the season,

A decent bench player at best. He got more playing time last year and didn't seem to take advantage. He is worth keeping around though because he can hit threes and is practically automatic from the FT line, which is nice when trying to close out a game. He'll probably be seeing more playing time now with Carter injured.

The thunder have a crazy defense this year. Holding a detroit team to 83 is awesome, espeically holding them to only 37% from the field. All of their points came from the line it seemed. They were held to 12 assists to 14 turnovers. I'm really loving this team's defense. Sefelosha is a monster.

Durant is averaging 25 and 11.5 a game

Westbrook is averaging 12 pts, 11.5 asts, 6 rbs a game

By the way, ben gordon is a beast. He was the only person on that team that could score on our defense. Charlie villawhatever looked awful against us tonight, i have no idea how he got that big contract.

THUNDER 2-0 BABY!!

also, imb or whoever else watched the last thunder game, can you find a video of westbrook's block where he jumped over the back of gordon and blocked his three? Gordon's face was hilarious, "where the [expletive] did that kid come from?" lol

holy [expletive] mavericks wtg

Most underrated team of the offseason. No one talked about it but Marion is a huge pickup and changes their whole team. They finally have a perimeter defender who can do something to limit the Kobe's, Lebron's ... etc. They have all their offense and while their overall defense will still be subpar they at least have that go to defender. He will also help their rebounding. I really think the Mavs will challenge for the No. 1 seed.

On another note I'm very please with what I have seen from my Rockets this season. Brooks is the real deal, Ariza has proved he can do more than hit open threes when Kobe gets doubled (wasn't high on him when he got signed), Chase Budinger looks like the next Mike Miller and Landry is averaging 9.5 pts and 5.5 rebounds off the bench despite playing poorly in both games. Landry really has a shot at 6th man this year.

I'm not as confident as you are, that's for sure. I think they'll make the playoffs, but probably in the lower half of the conference.

i think shaq will come into the season out of shape

I think Shaq will continue to ignore anyone who tells him he is out of shape and deny that he is even though it's obvious.

I'm still waiting on his Cleveland nickname.

Aaron Brooks looking like a MIP candidate early. Came into tonight averaging 18.5 pts 8.5 assists. He's got 25 and 8 so far tonight with a minute and change to go.

BTW pretty sure I just saw Juwan Howard on the bench for Portland. Though that guy retired two years ago.

My wood for Brandon Jennings is starting to reach unhealthy levels.

Jennings with 24 points. He hit 3 3 pointers. (9-15 from the floor)

Jennings had 16 in the 3rd, a quarter in which we outscored the Pistons 36-14. At one point he scored 11 of the bucks last 13.

He also had a nasty behind the back in mid air lay up. If you can look it up, do it.

He probably would of had 8-10 assists if the Bucks knew how to hit a open jump shot.

This is gonna be some match up between Jennings and Rose on Tuesday.

Shaq looks terrible. Absolutely terrible. The Cavs are playing better, though. Unfortunately, we seem to play much better with Shaq on the bench. Not sure of the +/- though.

Shaq was actually a +5 tonight. I'm not sure what that means since Varejo was a +23. Shaq was a -25 against toronto though. I think he's been in the pluses every game except that.

but yeah, he looks like a whale out there.

y'all will have to forgive me, I know [expletive] all about basketball. What does + and - mean?

The team's scoring margin when a player is on the court.

If the game is tied when a player comes in and 5 minutes later he's subbed out with his team trailing by 6, he's -6 during that segment. It's then totaled up for the game and season.

Not perfect but has the right goals.

copying from wikianswers:

The +/- stat is tied to team performance during the time that that particular player is on the court. The games official scorer records the differential in terms of gain (plus) or loss (minus).

By way of example, if David Lee enters the game with the score tied at 80 to 80, and leaves with his team ahead by 3, he gets a plus 3. Conversely, if he enters with his team ahead by 13, and leaves with a 3 point lead, he gets a minus-10.

These numbers are added up throughout the game until at the end you have your final +/- for each player that you see in the box score.

Yeah that seems like it has a billion flaws in it, but I guess by the end of a season it probably all fits about right.

Like with all stats there are splits and advanced adjustments made to it but it still leaves you scratching your head sometimes. See Kevin Durant

Sounds like Jennings has Derrick Rose syndrome where he should easily have 3-4 more assists a game if the other joke players on the team knew how to make a simple open shot.

I still can't fathom how that pairing between him and Skiles will work but we'll see how that progresses.
