this is all very fascinating and all, but does anyone want to talk about the bulls?

Do you want to explain your declaration that the trades yesterday somehow leave the Bulls shorthanded for the rest of the season?

I guess. But now that the trade deadline is over, there's nothing to talk about until the summer. This season doesn't actually matter.

I mean, I know most of the talk yesterday was about acquiring the expiring contracts for players, but the Bulls do actually get to use those players the rest of the season.

It matters in a "let's not get Rose and/or Noah killed this season" way, but not in a "let's go win it all this year" kind of way.

That and it's not like the ended up with a significant dropoff in ability in regards to what they traded and what they got in return.

Any talk like "the season is over" or "the season doesn't matter now" is ridiculous. They traded Tyrus Thomas and John Salmons.

Yeah, I specifically asked Kevin Pelton in the chat yesterday about the dropoff, and he gave a rough estimate of a 1 win dropoff the rest of the year. So, from projected 42-40 to 41-41.

so derwood's opinion doesn't matter, but apparently redflash's opinion is going to determine where lbj goes this offseason

No, I gave my opinion, and that's that. I don't like NY, but people here are trying to convince me to like NY even tho I don't want. I was just saying, I don't give damn about what derwood thought about Bama.

Absolutely no one is trying to convince you to like New York.

Right. Murray and Warrick are going to be decent rotation players for the rest of the year. Any fears about a huge drop off are overblown. If the Bulls do slump, it's not going to be because Salmons and Thomas aren't around.

Pelton also said it was important that the Bulls got viable rotation players in Flip and Warrick rather than pure expirings like Elson and K. Thomas. I'm skeptical on Flip because he has sucked badly this year and intrigued by Warrick. Plus we STILL have Hinrich instead of pure expirings which was part of the calculus (the biggest part considering the Bulls record since Kirk was inserted in the startign lineup) about how this team could fall off a cliff if we moved everyone for cap space.

Tyrus Thomas has 9 points, 12 boards and 6 blocks in his first game with Charlotte (a win over Cleveland)

Change of scenery works

he's going to get a good 25 minutes per game until Chandler and/or Diop get healthy. We'll see if he gets all petulant again when his minutes go down

The 2009-2010 Chicago Bulls: The only team that can win in Cleveland and lose at home against New Jersey (or in Minnesota).

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it doesn't look like they're losing in Minnesota.

What? It's perfectly rational to call a game an hour and a half before it's over.

Wait, wait, wait. We need to backtrack a bit.

I know I'm just a "northern idiot" but what exactly am I missing here?

Obviously, no one really knows. There have been a million small snippets that could be interpreted in a thousand differet ways. My gut tells me that LeBron stays in Cleveland. But, obviously I have a pretty clear bias.

Mike, as much as I have no love for Cleveland, I have less love for New York. It's bad enough that "The Raptist" headlines LA, we don't need LBJ headlining NY. I rather LBJ stay in Cleveland and the Bulls have to face him 4 times a year, instead of him going to NY.

What is a raptist?

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned before but Luol Deng is a very selfish basketball player. This dude passes up on passing to wide open guys to go iso on a double team. And make a free throw please.

He's not always as bad as he was tonight. That was some awful basketball by him tonight. He passed up several open guys in order to try to score over 3 guys in the lane as you said. At one point, Kirk put his hands up angry that Deng blatantly ignored him (Deng was looking in his direction before turning around and putting up a contested shot). To his credit, he's probably the teams second best scorer and he's been effective getting shots in the lane lately.

And he probably thinks Hinrich can't shoot.
