Iowa with a number one vote in the Harrison poll!!!

Proof the system is seriously screwed up. No offense, but Iowa should not be ranked any higher than 4 on any polls and anyone giving them a #1 vote probably should not be allowed to vote at this point in the season.

No. They shouldn't be one but I still argue they should be third. Their SOS is better than Texas', Cincy's and Boise's.

voting Iowa #1 isn't the worst vote that was cast this year or even this week. Iowa's not the best team in the country, but they might have the best resume so far. They went to Happy Valley, Camp Randall, and EL and walked away with Ws in each game - the last 2 in consecutive weeks. They aren't pretty games and they're far from perfect, but that's impressive.

If Iowa were to win out, including another road win at OSU, I think you'd be hard pressed to keep them out of the title game against the presumed undefeated winner of the SEC.

Yeah I don't think there's any chance they jump an undefeated Texas though.

Ain't no one can play that ball like dem boys in the souf

I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means.

?

It was a drunk post being stupid about a bad southern dialect.

I'll chalk this up to you not being from down here, but usually when someone spells something like that they are making fun of black dialect.

google "dirty souf" for example

lol omc making sure someone doesn't have a racist undertone to their post. now i've seen it all.

well that's just dumb. why is voting them #1 so crazy? they're undefeated and have a few good wins on their resume. just because florida/alabama/texas started out ahead of iowa doesn't mean they're any more entitled to be ranked #1.

Alabama's resume is easily better than Florida's. The AP voters did the right thing last week moving Alabama up and the wrong thing this week.

Alabama needed THREE blown FG's by a 3-3 team who was starting 2 walkons and a converted TE on the offensive line and a 3rd string OLB who just got moved to the middle 3 weeks ago. They barely survived at home against a team who has lost to UCLA this season.

I'd say the voters got it right, and believe me- I hate the Gators.

I'm not mad at Bama moving down the polls, I'm really not, but the Vols were equally lucky to even put themselves in position to pull off the upset. Ingram fumbles for the first time in his career and the Vols capitalize on it. Good for you. Ingram doesn't fumble and the game finishes 12-3, and people are talking about how dominate Tide's d was against Vols team that put 40 points against an GA.

Not to mention Florida got lucky to survive the game against Arkansas team that Bama demonlished. And Texas was "lucky" to survive Oklahoma, and blah, blah, blah. Luck is a part of sports.

Not to mention:

AP's Twitter feed says Bradford will go pro if his shoulder rehab goes well post-surgery.

They made a good point this morning on Sports Reporters. This is going to be the last draft before the new CBA, and the expectations are the rookie salary cap is going to be going down a lot. This could prompt a lot of players to go pro who are on the fence. Plus there is always the potential of a work stoppage, though I doubt that will happen.

Yeah, I've been thinking about a while as it pertains to Jimmy. Bradford leaving probably enhances the chances that Clausen would stay, so I'm glad Bradford decided to go.

I don't think it matters that much as I think Clausen would go before Bradford. It all depends on the order. I wonder if the Raiders would want him with Russell still on the books, and that would open up a chance for him to go home to CA. Still its the Raiders, and I would hate to get drafted by them even if I grew up loving them.

I already had to live with the Browns drafting Brady Quinn and then enacting their career-sabotage on him, I think I'd lose it if Jimmy met a similar fate.

god dammit andy, you sound like a girl when you call players by their first name. that's something omc would do

I'm a little late with this but...

paul rhoads for coach of the year.

That said, ISU got outplayed badly yesterday. Not having Robinson or Arnaud play basically killed the offense. A +8 TO margin fixes a lot of things though, and the defense played fairly well considering they got incredibly lucky. A bowl game looks likely now, but I'm not counting on anything before they get another win.

i should be enjoying the win over nebraska, but they should be effing 7-1 and running away with the north. of course, i guess you could say they shouldn't have won yesterday...though a team that commits 8 turnovers doesn't deserve to win either.

Eh, unless you're Iowa you can't win all the close ones. They could be 7-1, but 5-3 is pretty much in line with how they've preformed against their schedule. I think there's a 10-15% chance they get 3 more wins to have a legitimate shot at the North, but just going to a bowl game would be a huge improvement over the last 3 years.

Two more wins gives Iowa State a legitimate shot at the north, as long as they end up being the right two.

It's possible if they beat Colorado and Missouri to improve their North record, but they would still need a ton of help to win at 4-4. K-State would either need to lose out or end up in a multi way tie with ISU, plus a lot of other stuff. That's too complicated and unlikely for me to figure out right now, and I'm really just amazed that we're having a discussion after week 8 about the chances of Kansas State and Iowa State winning the North this year.
