Andy,

Im asking you to take the Illini games out of your "games of interest".

Haha, there are way too many of you Illini fans for me to do that. In any case half the time you'd still be in there since almost every team in the conference has a vocal fan or two on this board.

Well can you just list them at TBD vs Purdue, or something like that? How about "horrible vs Purdue? :D

Time for our third embarrassing loss in a row on national TV!

Last chance to get Gameday here before I graduate and we couldn't make it happen either, they're going to partytown USA instead.

Time to hope that a bunch of things go horribly wrong for Texas, like McCoy insisting he take kickoffs and then breaking his arm on the first one.

No, PSU is on the road

Looks like I'll be in attendance at the Michigan/PSU game. It's been years since I've been inside the Big House. Should be fun, especially since Michigan is going to destroy Penn State.

not really

Yep, family weekend here. Should be a good turnout (at least for a I-AA game) especially because it is family weekend as well as coming off a gigantic win against UNI.

really looking forward to playing a pissed off OU team that needs to win to stay above .500.

I was going to ask who you thought would lose by more, us or you, but you guys will still drop 30 points in your loss. Texas will probably hold us to 4 or something.

Maybe I've completely lost it, but I think the Vols will keep it very competitive with Alabama Saturday. I don't think Tennessee will win (short of Crompton looking like he did against Georgia), but we were fairly competitive with Florida and Bama is a better matchup, I think.

Monte has had two weeks now to gameplan for a very traditional type of offense - which he's handled better to this point anyway - and I think Tennessee's run defense can at least slow Mark Ingram - maybe. Eric Berry will have to have a big play or two and it'll be interesting to see how Monte uses him Saturday.

Offensively, Crompton will have to play well and the receivers will have to run their routes and catch the ball well. I don't think Tennessee can win, but a close game wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I really, really, really want to beat those punks from Boston College.

I really, really, really want to know why 0-7 Ball State is FAVORED on the road against Eastern Michigan, quite possibly with Kelly Page unavailable due to injury.

I do think Tennessee will keep it competitive like Ole Miss and USCeast did. A score of something like 24-7, or something of the like is what I am expecting. With Alabama getting their bye after you guys I think Tennessee will get a very crisp and sharp game. But I hate to tell you this, dew, even if Crompton isn't the worst freakin' QB in the SEC, Bama wll basically send him to the shrink after the game.

As for Bama running a traditional offense, this is true, but Alabama also run the "Pistol" offense, an a couple of other offense I'm not familiar with.

That's where I might have lost my mind. By competitive I mean something in the area of 17-10 or 21-14 or something similar. I just don't see Bama scoring a ton on Tennessee's defense if Florida couldn't. Now, that's not taking into account the points the offense may give Bama, but if the offense starts giving away free points, it won't be competitive at all.

That said, I'm working under the assumption that the UT offense won't be overly productive, but also won't be abundant in turnovers.

Everybody said that about the Florida game in the Swamp too and Crompton made it out of there with a respectable enough game. If the Georgia game said anything about this offense, it's that the players are doing the basic, fundamental things right (like running routes correctly, catching passes and getting the ball to the open receiver accurately). If they do that, the defense can keep the game close.

The Pistol is a unique formation, but what I mean by "traditional" is no spread option type plays. Tennessee has struggled under Monte so far when the other team has had either huge amounts of misdirection (Auburn) or a mobile QB (Ohio, Florida). I haven't seen much of either out of Alabama and I think that helps Monte out tremendously.

That said, I think Alabama may have the most weapons of any team Tennessee has faced this season. And I don't know how the Sullins brothers (guard and center) will contain Terrence Cody. They struggled with Brian Price and I think Cody is a better player (or at least a tougher matchup because of his size and strength).

Are there any BC fans on nsbb? I just want to know how personally I can insult the team and fans without violating any rules.

i'm third generation holy cross alum, and we used to have a big rivalry with bc until they went toward big-time college athletics and we stayed smaller, so insult away.

Alabama seems one dimensional to me. McElroy played lights out in the games against crappy defenses, but in the three games he played against good to great defenses he was largely useless. He failed to complete over 50% of his passes against Virginia Tech, South Carolina and Ole Miss. He threw one TD pass and three picks in those games. I'm expecting Tennessee to stack the box and make McElroy beat him. They did that to Florida and Tebow managed to eek out enough runs to win. Tebow wasn't very effective passing in the game and he's a lot better passer than McElroy. I think Tennessee matches up well in this game. I don't think they'll do anything on offense to win though. My guess is Alabama 13-6, or 17-6. Something like that. If Berry can get a pick 6, they might be able to pull of the win.

Another thing to consider is that the Vols have two weeks to prepare. Crompton's played a lot better outside of Florida and UCLA. Granted much like McElroy all of his success has came against weak defenses.

Are they really worth insulting? BC is a nonentity. Though their punk fan base would never accept that.

I attended the BC game in 2004 that we lost by one and their fans were intolerable leaving the stadium.

If Alabama is one dimensional (and that isn't even close, btw, Bama has 6 guys with over 130 yards and a TD, Bama has and forever will be a running team first) it is because McElroy seems to be forcing it abit. If McElroy goes back to spreading the field like he did earlier, Bama's offense will be fine.

If Tenneess needs a big defensive play to win the game, then they are in trouble. Besides, Bama will stay away from Berry. I so expect Eric Berry to be a complete no factor in the game. Tennessee will keep the game competitive, and the game will be close, but ultimately Alabama's superior talent and depth (not to mention the superior coaching Bama has over Tennessee, excluding Monte Kiffin) will prevail like it has in every game this yr. I say Bama win the game something like 24-7.
