Season's over if we lose on Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it happened.

To borrow a joke from Married with Children, if you lose to the Rams, you should be thrown out of the league. End of story. And seeing as the Packers losing to the Rams is as likely as Robert Henson getting XMas cards from Redskins fans, I would say this is about a gimme of a game in the league as you can get.

Titans really need to win this week. We can still make 3-3 by the bye week if we beat the Jets and Jags and one of the Pats/Colts. Hopefully the secondary will fix whatever issues caused the numerous blown coverages last week.

Pressuring Sanchez and controlling the running game will probably be the best strategy Sunday. The line has to open up holes for CJ and LenDale so that Ryan's blitzes don't affect Collins.

JaMarcus Russell watch, Week 3.

In this decade, a less than 50% completion percentage for a single season (minimum 14 passes per game so 224 for the season) has happened three times. JP Losman 49.6 percent in 2005, Mark Brunell 49.8 percent in 2004 and Akili Smith 44.2 percent in 2000.

Russell is at 35.2 percent (19-for-54) right now. I think he's got a shot at beating Akili.

The best part?

If they win on Sunday, they will be tied for first

Yeah, a loss for the Titans and they might already have dug themselves too deep a hole. An 0-3 start would be a foreboding position with two games remaining with the Colts, one against the Pats, Chargers, Texans, etc.

Colts have a tough travel week -- Monday night in Miami (approximately 1,150 miles away) and then Arizona on Sunday night (approximately 1,700 miles away) -- plus consecutive prime time games in rather extreme temperature conditions. The defense may still have a hangover from a short rest week and 45 minutes on the field Monday. Still, I thought a 3-2 start heading into the bye would be a decent start for the Colts; take this one and 4-1 seems likely (doubt the Colts win in Nashville).

Aaron Rouse was cut today and we signed former Colt great Matt Giordano. We have some issues at safety as Bigby is supposed to be out until after the bye week and Collins is doubtful this week.

It amazes me how Jarrett Bush gets chance after chance to stay on this team. If Marc Bulger doesn't attack the middle of the field on Sunday, he's the dumbest QB in the league.

With Atari Bigby out for now and Nick Collins dinged up, the Packers have decided to make a fairly significant change in the last line of defense.

Aaron Rouse, a third-round pick in 2007 who started in Sunday's loss to the Bengals, has been cut.

In his place, the team has signed Matt Giordano, who spent the first four years of his career with the Colts.

Man this 49ers vs Minnesota has so many things that make it intriguing. AP vs. Gore. AP vs. Patrick Willis. Brett Favre vs. Shaun Hill. If 49ers win they are for real. If Minnesota wins they could be the leagues top team. I really want to watch this game just to see Willis and AP go at it. If I was the 49ers I would do what Tampa did to stop Vick. Give Willis the AP assignment. He follows him everywhere. He covers him on pass routes, lines up to stop him on running plays and if AP stays in to block then Willis blitzes or plays an underneath zone.

1) It's about 1,000 times different with a running back than a QB.

2) What you described is pretty much just man coverage with a MLB. It's not anything radical but there's no way they play man all day and if they just keep him assigned to Adrian it opens up a large hole in the middle for the passing game.

It is an interesting game though.

In what universe is Brett Favre vs. Shaun Hill an intriguing matchup?

In what universe does beating the San Francisco 49'ers the leagues top team?

It's not just the 49ers ... obviously. Minnesota were a highly touted team coming into the season. If Favre can move the ball against a defense Warner couldn't then it would make a strong case for Minnesota being the best team. They have a very good defense and perhaps the best offensive player. Add to that a passing game that can actually move the ball against good defenses and you yeah I would say that makes the case for them being perhaps the best team.

Favre for the Favre reasons and Hill for the proving himself reasons. He's 9-3 as a starter but has gotten very little credit. Beat Minnesota on the road and he will get a lot more credit and the Hill beating Favre will likely be talked about along with it. It's not the most intriguing aspect to the game by a long shot but it is something to watch for.

Of course it is different than a running QB but it is still the most effective way to limit AP. Willis is one of the few if not the only defensive player with the speed, power and skill to take on AP by himself consistently.

Also Spikes is more than capable of playing zone over the middle. We run a 3-4 so Willis isn't the only guy in the middle.
