I actually liked it much better than the "everyone jump up and down while surrounding the guy that hit it" celebration.

The fact that Prince weighs about 3 bills is why it was funny. It wouldn't have been realistic for someone like Juan Pierre(for more than one reason). But with Prince jumping, you'd expect the earth to shake enough for them all to fall down.

act like you've been there before.

I hate that saying in regards to stuff like this. How about thinking about how YOU'D feel if you ever got there. It was a funny celebration. He wasn't taunting anyone, he wasn't talking trash, he didn't go way over the top. He was just celebrating with his teammates. Nothing wrong with that.

Now what would have been really funny would have been to have the entire cardinals defense fall down like that every time he struck out last night.

It's only really entertaining if your team is good. Maybe they would have a better record if their pitchers, at least, spent the time spent practicing that broadway act .... on pitching?

Brewers fans won't be able to pee their pants this year, so I'll at least let them have that.

they forget that professional sports is first and foremost entertainment.

I understand that professional sports are entertaining, but isn't competition for the sake of competition the primary reason for their existence?

This is probably me getting too pedantic about the whole thing, but here's what comes up on Wikipedia under "sports entertainment" ...

Sports entertainment is a type of spectacle which presents an ostensibly competitive event using a high level of theatrical flourish and extravagant presentation, with the purpose of entertaining an audience. Unlike typical athletics and games, which are conducted for competition, sportsmanship, exercise or personal recreation, the primary product of sports entertainment is performance for an audience's benefit, thus they are never practiced privately. Commonly, but not in all cases, the outcomes are predetermined (such cases are not considered to be fixed, however, as it is an open secret). Events which fall under the classification of sports entertainment are widely considered to be low brow forms of entertainment.

This.

And when Prince gets a ball in the back next time they play, they shouldn't freak out.

If it was Derrek Lee who did it against the Brewers, I would of laugh my ass off.

If it was Albert Pujols who did it against the Brewers, I would of laugh my ass off.

If it was Benji Molina who did it against the Brewers, I would of laughed my ass off.

God forbid teams have fun when playing baseball. Oh yeah, we can't have fun we are under .500

It wasn't that bad in and of itself, but the fact the Brewers, who have well established recent record of celebratory stupidity did it probably makes it a bigger deal.

And FTR, if a Cubs player did it, I wouldn't be mad, but I would probably roll my eyes and shake my head.
