Good thing these Padres play consistently and played up to the same level against the Cardinals, right?

Or could it be that the Cardinals are just a better team than the Cubs? Sure looks that way.

6 games back.

Only lost a 1/2 game in the WC. Would have liked to be 3 out, but 4 out isn't the end of the world.

The division's done.

We have to pass four teams in the Wild Card. I don't have hope that we can do that.

Maybe the Cardinals are just better than us?

Anyone excited to listen to Lou's press conference. Gregg has to be removed as closer. There are no more excuses, he's not tipping his pitches, he's not injured, he doesn't have a dead arm, he's just bad at pitching.

Don't think they're in first that far ahead on some fluke, that's for sure.

Are they Kyle Blanks better?

Seriously, what happened to Gregg? The Cardinals have turned Ryan Franklin into steroid-era Eric Gagne and we picked up a supposedly half-decent closer and he has been awful. No homers given up last year until Ward and he's given up 12 this year. There is no explanation anyone can give me for such a dramatic spike.

It's not very likely, you are right but the season isn't over and there's still hope.

Cubs uniforms weigh more. It is a known fact.

I knew it was too much to ask to beat the Padres.

We can't win in this ballpark anymore. In 04-05, we couldn't lose there but now its the opposite.

Gotta love all the Cardinal fans lurking in game threads right now......

I don't blame them. It's fun watching fans of your rivals having a complete meltdown because their team sucks.

If our rival was a hopelessly tormented fan base with a horrid closer, I'd probably hang around too. But they're not. They're a recent champion with Ryan Franklin pitching his way to a Bob Gibson ERA and the greatest player of all time.
