So I didn't read through the whole game thread, but I anticipated there being more panic about this than there seems to be. Maybe we've all just gotten used to the fact that we have another injury pop up every week. Hopefully it was just precautionary, but come on this is starting to get ridiculous.

It didn't sound like it was anything serious, but I was pretty nervous when I saw him hanging his head in the dugout and putting his towel over his head in disappointment.

I'm sure we'll have a better idea of the injury tomorrow.

Yeah, this team can't really overcome much more at this point in the injury department. What I've wondered is how much it might have already been bothering him day to day.

it's not like fox is hitting the crap out of the ball recently, either.

Based on what? A few pinch hit at bats in the last 2 series. He hit 2 bombs in Florida not too long ago.

I almost don't even care anymore. I've ccepted the fact that this team is probably not making the playoffs. If they end up going on a run and making it, fine. I just doubt it will happen.

Well, even if we were good enough to make it - which we may or may not have been - the Injury Gods were never going to let us do it.

I know we all said this last time Ramirez went down, but if he does, Soriano is going to have to pick up the pace in a major way. At least this time around, hopefully Lou will go straight to Jake Fox without messing around like he did last time.

It makes me wonder which is worse, the Mets losing everyone at once, or this worms in a can crap where everytime someone comes off the DL someone else goes down.

I think our injuries have been more demoralizing. Obviously biased point of view, but it seems the Mets could have a sense of just need to tread water and once we get our guys back we'll make a run. Every time this year we've been at the point of our opening day roster, the baseball gods wind up and kick us in the groin repeatedly again and again

I'm almost to this point too.

Wow, the injuries this team has been through. I actually think we've done a good job hanging in there given the circumstances. But there's a point where it just can't be held up anymore. We may have reached that point.

If the pecking order for the 3B depth chart goes something like Miles/Fontenot/Fox, I won't be surprised. Disappointed yes... surprised, not so much

The Cubs deserve some credit for hanging in despite the injuries and Lou's been pretty good through it as well. At least he hasn't been lamenting about his team being struck by one injury after another.

Just one year I want to see this injury BS, to this depth, happen to the Cards, let's remove Pujols for most of the season and put starters 1-4 on the DL at some time or another. After which, well see just how "good" Ludwick, etc. are.

You mean like missing Carpenter for the last 2 years, Wainwright for half of last year, Pujols for almost a month?

I know the Cubs have been racked with injuries, but this does happen to other teams. The last round has been a kick in the nuts, but a team with a 140 Mil. payroll should have enough talent to weather that. And the Cubs have for the most part. If they had been 100% healthy all year there's no doubt in my mind they would have a 6-8 game lead in the division.

I dont care what your payroll is when at the same time you are missing your #1 and #2 starters, All Star 3rd baseman, RH hitting CF platoon partner who hits leftys at a 850-900 OPS, and your starting catcher is coming back from missing a month from injury. NO team in baseball has the depth to overcome that, NONE.

If these injuries the Cubs have had were spread out over the season, it would be different, but all at the same time, nobody has the depth to overcome it.

I mean for Christs sake, the Cubs have over 51,000,000 of their 135 million payroll hurt right now NOT PLAYING. Im tired of hearing about with the Cubs payroll they should be able to overcome the injuries. You know why they have a payroll that high? Largely in part because of the guys who are hurt, think about it.

I put this in the gamethread, but it probably belongs here too. ARam got a cortisone shot today, and will miss the next 2-3 days at least.

ARam planning on being in the lineup Friday, and the Dr who examined his shoulder said he doesnt think he will need surgery to tighten the shoulder capsule.
