Dear Lord, people...THE #8 HITTER CAN BE BAD.

GOOD LORD it won't kill us to try that for a couple of games until Geo gets back.

Why risk it? That sure sounds like a desparation move and the Cubs are playing fairly well.

Owings is either sick or injured according to Reds broadcast.

now i'm kinda pissed that we only got 2 runs off of him; he was extremely lucky to keep all those fly balls in the park.

GOOD LORD, it just might.

There's no reason to do something that ridiculous in a division this tight right now with Soto due back. Why do they need to try something so desperate?

It's been a pleasant suprise that Fox has done as well as he has around the field, but catching is a much more critical position than all of those and it's by far the one he is worst at. As bad as Hill is at the plate he makes up for it as a catcher given that the rest of the lineup is doing just fine.

I hope if good things happen and the Cardinals lose and the Cubs win, after the final out Len does something like he did in 07, "and the Cubs Win....the FIRST PLACE Cubs win"

Little early for that, since it would only be .5/gm up if it works out.

I still can't get too excited about the standing yet. Long way to go, lots of injuries need to heal, and the Cubs need to put together an extended streak of good baseball to have any hopes of accomplishing anything.

I guess I need to see it against someone other than Washington and the Reds before I get too riled up.

It was very early August when it happened last time. I don't see the harm in commenting that the Cubs have just overtaken first place after a season long struggle to get to that point. Doesn't mean they are going to keep first place.

Either way, I shouldn't have brought it up, its way too premature to start talking about that, we're up 1 in the 5th inning.

The Cubs play more average, mediocre and bad teams than good ones.

I dont understand this line of thinking. Good teams beat the crap teams, and its where you build your record. Play .500 or so against the "good" teams, and keep sweeping or taking 2 of 3 from the Cincys and Washingtons, and you are going to have a good record.

Really aside from first game of the Philly series they did not play that badly there. Just could not score runs in the 2nd game which is what stood between them and a series win.

Sure, you play the schedule that your given. I guess big picture I just need to see them get healthy and get to a point where they can reasonably compete with the likes of Philly and LA.
