Sure, you play the schedule that your given. I guess big picture I just need to see them get healthy and get to a point where they can reasonably compete with the likes of Philly and LA.

yeah but those are by far the two best teams in the NL. that might make you feel better about their chances in the playoffs, but you don't need to beat the phillies and LA to win the division.

We split with LA. We could have easily won the Philly series. We are competing.

They're competing them with them by doing the same thing those teams are doing: winning series and beating up on the bad teams. No team plays mostly good teams in a season, and bad teams don't consistently beat up on other bad teams: then they wouldn't be bad teams.

Hopefully they do and can advance beyond where they have been the last two years.

Bradley saves Fox.

While he did save him, it wasnt an easy play by any means for Fox

I know, I'm just deflating the Fox love a little.

I'm glad Harden's phase of not being very good seems to be long behind him. He's a flat out stud today. (Either that or Dusty ball strikes again, but let me dream.)

Im with 100%. It is just my personal opinion that the Cubs still have a ways to go, get Llly/Dempster back and healthy, Soto, etc. before I can be convinced that this team has a good chance of winning something.

I'm encouraged by the play as of late, I hope it continues. This team has the pieces, maybe they are starting to fall into place.

Did you get the impression that they were severely overmatched in the Philly series with two blowout wins in either direction and an extra innings loss?

I don't get the idea that they can't reasonably compete with better teams. What does that even mean?

What they need to have a good chance of winning is the division. Given the fact that they are a half game out of first place at the moment, they obviously have a decent enough chance at doing that. If that's done, they essentially have as good a chance as every other playoff team (and as much of a chance as last year's team had going in to the playoffs) of winning a World Series.

Let's not try to make this more complicated than it is.
