Congrats to Buehrle on the perfect game.

WARNING!!! When the highlights come on, mute the TV. You will NOT want to hear Hawk Harrelson. Just when you thought he couldn't get more annoying...

I wish I had known about this before I watched. That's the worst "moment" call ever. YUCK.

If a Cub pitcher throws a perfect game, you can bet the phone will stay silent. I understand it's no big deal, but still. The favoritism is a bit annoying.

Favortism?

What?

Of course he wouldn't call the Cubs, or any other team...he's a White Sox fan.

So then I guess the President should only have his favorite team to the White House if they win the World Series. Why should he have another team? He's not a fan.

If a president didn't, who gives a crap?

Plenty of people do. Why do you think there's coverage of the event when it happens. Because nobody cares?

So you're honestly bothered by the idea of a president calling to speak to the pitcher of his favorite team after he throws a perfect game and not doing the same across the board?

His call of Wise's catch was pretty hilarious, too. After it happened and he says he makes the catch, he's silent for a second, Stone starts to say something and he cuts him off to scream "WISE MAKES THE CATCH" again.

I really wish Hawk was a part of the nation's unemployment rate.

Hawk's call of the last out is the funniest thing I've heard in quite a while.

Yeah, what was up with that? He just shouts "Alexei!" and then starts yelling "YES!" for a few minutes.

This will be in the public records forever:

"Alexei...YES...YES...YES....YES...YES!"

He literally said "yes" five times

How is Hawk's call any different than Santo's call of Z's no-hitter last year?

"YES YES YES YES YES!"

vs.

"OH, YES!"

Santo's on the radio, isn't the play by play guy and is paired with one of the best broadcasters out there.

Hawk is on TV as the play by play announcer and is paired with Steve Stone.

i hate the fact that a sox pitcher pitched a perfect game, however that hate is tempered by the fact that he did it against the tampa devil rays which makes it even in my eyes.

Personally, if I was the president, I'd totally take advantage of it to call the players of my favorite sports teams when they did awesome things.

Oh God...Obama is on the phone to speak with Buehrle. His White Sox love is getting a little annoying. I'm glad he's a passionate sports fan but aren't there more important things to do than make his presence known every time a non-Cub Chicago sports team does something noteworthy.

Apparently, hes already saved the economy, so whats left for him to do?

Give his 2 cents on the Cambridge, Mass police department...sorry, that's for another thread...

We all need a release from our work to stay sane. I don't see an issue with Obama congratulating Buerhle on one of the most rare feats in baseball...

Besides, he probably does it to irk Hillary. Wait, or is she a Yankee fan ?

Uh of course it would stay silent. He's not a Cubs fan, he's a Sox fan. You can say he's not a diehard fan, but to complain about something like that is kind of nitpicking.

It's mind-boggling to think that three historic moments in baseball - Jim Thome's 500th home run and Mark Buehrle's two no-hitter games - will forever have Hawk's godawful calls associated with them. The television call of the 500th home run for Jim Thome, one of the game's greats, is essentially an unintelligible mashup of "THABALLHIDEEP! WAYBAK! YOUCANPUTITONNABORDEEEEYES!"

I would hope that if the Hall of Fame ties a designated call to the recorded historical moments they document, they use the White Sox radio calls, which are at the very least intelligible.

I have to admit, Wise's catch was insane. Given the situation, and how far he had to run, that either is, or is really close to, the catch of the year.

I'm not a fan of Beuhrle in any way, but you have to respect what he did today. Congrats. Now try not to accuse Greg Maddux of cheating throughout his career again.

Anyone know the official time on this game? He normally works really fast, so this game was probably over in a 90 minutes.

And Hawk's call was probably the worst call I've ever heard for a historic game/moment.
