sounds good! do we have a source?

I heard it on Boers and Bernstein coming back from a commercial, I'm scouring the internet trying to find something printed

I know they have a reporter (David Schuster i think) at Wrigley and he might have heard something.

if aramis holds up during the next couple of weeks...i think fox is gone to an AL team in a package for a reliever

I really hope not. I think Fox is worth more then a "AL reliever." Let him play out the season to raise his value and then move him to the AL in the offseason. Trading Fox for a "reliever" doesn't improve the tean.

Why would we trade him at the peak of his value? My guess will be that Hendry will let every team know we want to trade Fox, play him sporadically for the rest of the year so his numbers dip, constantly send him back to AAA and recall him a week later until he is out of options, and then trade him for a AA relief pitcher next spring.

I know you meant this tongue-in-cheek, but moving him up and down doesn't affect his option status. An option is used each year that he's sent down while on the 40-man roster, but regardless of whether he's sent down once or ten times that year it's still just one option. The option for this year was already burned when he was sent down to start the season.

Rami in the house. Says he's about 80-85 percent strength/game ready. Still awaiting word on roster moves. Fuld, Fox haven't heard.

Only 80-85 percent? I want Aramis back as bad as the next guy, but we probably should have just waited until after the All-Star break.

Groin sprain. I was wondering what phantom injury they'd invent for Patton.

I wonder if someone kicked Patton in the crotch.

Maybe Lou did after his performance on Saturday.

Hart down is the third.

Ty Sir.

I have no significant complaints about any of these decisions. Kudos to Cubs brass for this

Agreed, this is awesome. Although I would have definitely preferred Shark down and Fuld remaining up, this works as well, especially with the DH on Sunday.

10 pitchers?

So they are going with 11 pitchers for now?
Armageddon must be at hand.

I was wrong about them starting with only one backup MI and finally going to 11 pitchers. The first one didn't last long though, wonder how long this one will.

Now that's a visual.

Good moves all round. Hopefully Fox continues to make it "impossible" to send him down when Capt. Waste of Space returns.

Taking into consideration how often the Cubs actually used Patton, it's as if they've been going with 11 pitchers all year. Now, at least, they can play with a full 25-man roster.

Isn't that guy a journalist?

I'm pretty shocked at the reasonableness of these actions . . . at least it puts off some of the drama until Miles comes back (hopefully they just DFA him and we keep on rolling!)

If Miles is re-activated, it better be Blanco who is released. One .500 OPS bat on this team is enough. That said, there is no reason to have Miles on this team over Blanco. DFA please.

Exactly, I was thinking the same

Yeah, that's what people like Bruce Miles have been saying all season. But there's a difference between going to an 11 man bullpen for the last week before the ASB and heading into the dog days of summer with a plan to only have 11 pitchers.

I think I'd actually like to push for a Fox trade. I wonder if a Fox/Hoffpauier combo would do anything for the Mets.

The two together might be a bit too redundant, unless they wanted to platoon them. It'd also take away most of the power on our bench. I'd only trade one of the two - preferably Fox.

He may not get much better than that until he has surgery on it.

For the 1st time in a long time, I can actually say, "Good decisions were made by the Cubs today". Also this leaves Shark here who if we have a short outing again can be sent down and call up another arm, I got to say Im pleased.

I'd much rather trade Hoffpauir. Fox can play the positions Micah plays, and he's probably a better hitter too. Not to mention, he's younger, and can backup 3b. We'd probably get more for Fox, though.

That's my reasoning in a nutshell. All the reasons you'd prefer Fox are the reasons we won't get much of anything for Hoff. His value is as a power lefty bat off the bench and that's as far as it goes. I can't imagine anybody would view him as a starter.

That type of player might net us a Heilman-esque reliever or so. Hoff is more valuable to us that that, though.
