What'd Font do?

Ran over Theriot trying to make a wide ranging play rather than letting Theriot make the easy play on a ball hit right to him.

The Cajun Connection!

Why'd Kasper give Fox such a hard time on that ball yesterday, but kind of glossed over that Fontenot gaffe?

No idea, but he was unnecessarily harsh on Fox yesterday.

how did soriano's legs go from being able to steal 40 bases the year before we got him to old crippled man legs in an offseason.

The legs are the first thing to go.

yeah but they didnt go at a normal rate. he went from 40 stolen bases to below average in no time.

I don't see how he went to below average in no time. He still stole 19 in 2007 and had a higher rate. The difference is he attempted more in Washington. But that's a stupid strategy. He got thrown out a lot. When he was in his mid-to-late 20's he stole just as much with a higher rate of success. And as he passed into his early 30's he started to get injured and his legs got worse. It wasn't over night. He's a worse runner now than he was in 2007, pre-injury.

Good post. This is pretty much exactly what happened.

The Detroit radio guys described it as normally the 3B's ball. If he can get to it it is his play.

Does Font have options?

Font is my biggest disappointment this year. I really thought he was capable of coming in on an everyday basis and putting up a .285 .360 line with 15 HR pop.

Same here. :(

And really, there was nothing that would lead you believe otherwise before this year. I mean sure he's going to regress from that 906 OPS or whatever he posted last year....but I didn't think this would be what would happen upon him receiving a starting role. Really depressing.

How in the world is Fontenot a bigger disappointment than Bradley?

We grew to love Fontenot last year, where as we were skeptical of Bradley from day one?

The Cubs spent huge money and presumeably traded Derosa in order to be able to obtain Bradley. He's a much bigger disappointment.

Eh, I see your point. I don't think there's a point in debating this either. They're both pretty massive black holes of disappointment....I think we can agree on that.

Because Bradley looks like he's coming around, other than the power stroke. Fontenot looks as clueless as ever.

The thing for me about Bradley though is that we are paying him what, 3/30? We're paying Fuk 4/48 or whatever.

Both have been underperforming their contract, but not by a huge amount. Bradley is what he is, a high OBP oft-injured DH

Is it just me, or does it seem like the rare games we score four to six runs are the games that our often strong pitching staff that often only gives up one to three runs ends up giving up five to seven?

Wow. That might leave some of you dizzy. But my point remains the same.
