Manager Lou Piniella said Wednesday that he's not yet ready to try Jake Fox at third base.

Piniella wants Fox to work with bench coach Alan Trammel to make sure he's not an egregious defensive liability. "We'd love to have his bat in the lineup," Piniella said. "Let's see him over there for a few more days working with Alan and I'll let Alan make that determination."

Per roto.

That should be fun....

At this point you might as well give it a shot.

I pray that shot won't be in our defensive foot, Hey let's look on the bright side he is probably as qualified as the 1000 others we tried after Santo until A.Ram

At the very least, he'll probably spend a week at DH during Interleague play.

I have no feel for Fox's infield defense. Being a converted catcher, the throw from third shouldn't be an issue. The challenge, clearly, will be mobility and getting his body set up accordingly to make throws to 1B. Having Lee to throw to should help a lot.

Will Lou pull him the first time he makes an error ?

How do you get Fox at 3B is coming..... out of that blurb? He's taking some balls out there and Lou has his doubts, if Trammel says the guy is okay he might get a look. But it doesn't say it's happening.

From what I've heard, it's not his arm that's the problem. It's his glove.

Apparently he can't catch the ball behind the plate or in the field.

Wouldn't that be analogous to asserting that if we purchased you a new computer that the content of your posts would improve ???

Hmmm . . . how about glovework, then. :)

2b- Soriano

SS- Theriot

CF- Fukudome

1B- Lee

RF- Bradley

LF- Hoffpauir

3B- Fox

C- Soto

I can't wait til this lineup takes the field defensively! That's 4 players out of position, and that's not including Theriot who would be a much better 2b than SS.

Tell the other team not to hit it to him, problem solved

No problem. Have Harden start the game and strike out 12 in 6 innings. The other 6 outs are groundouts to Theriot. Then in the 7th they bring in defensive replacements at 2nd, 3rd and LF.

He'll be better than Braun I think, though how much remains to be seen. I'm reserving judgment.

better than braun?

I'm thinking he means defensively better than Braun. Of course, I wouldn't complain if he were better offensively as well. :D

They'd be happy to hit it out of the park instead of at Fox. :D
