big z's first game back from his injury.

 

jake peavy's first game since his almost trade to the south side.

 

cubs can't score anymore and the game is being played in one of the most friendly pitchers' parks in baseball.

Though Petco and Peavy are the last things this offense needs right now, I'm glad Z is making his first start back in a park that pitcher-friendly. Hopefully that will help keep him reigned in if things don't go as he he expects/wants.

So is there any truth to the Soriano to 2B rumors and Hoff to LF? At this point we need to do something to shake things up/generate offense. We would probably need to call up Fox though to platoon him in LF.

Maybe in a paper, rock, scissor's matchup with the Padres, otherwise, I expect this game to involve negative runs.

The key is to score early. There will be approximately 35 minutes of sun from the time the game starts. That's 2 innings to try to get a run or two across.

 

You will all get the pleasure of seeing my ugly mug when lefty batters are at the plate Friday night. I'll be wearing my road blue Soto jersey (this should help get him out of his funk) right in the heart of the Padres season ticket holder section, 7 rows behind the Padres dugout.

0-0 game. Peavy gets traded for Z in the 3rd inning. The 2 pitchers switch teams. Z shuts the Cubs out through 7 innings. Peavy gives up 4 runs to the Padres in the next inning.

Probably watch the beginning of this game and hopefully the Cubs will turn it around this weekend.

Peavy goes 8 allowing 1 run on 4 hits in just 88 pitches. Padres decide to use a PH for him in the bottom of the 8th and the Cubs break a 1-1 tie in the top of the 9th to win it 2-1.

 

Whatever gets us a win at this point. I can't wait until Aramis comes back.

I will miss the next two games, one due to work and the other due to visiting friends back at school, and I'm not the least bit perturbed by it. You know this team is annoying me when I don't even blink at missing a Z vs Peavy start.
