wait, Lou actually mentioned possibly moving Soriano to 2B? oh my...

To get Hoff in the lineup, or what?

i guess. according to Lou (via Len), Soriano to 2B, Hoff to LF.

WOOT, a run!

Thats a double whammy. Not only to you have a bad defensive second baseman, but you lose Sorianos arm in the outfield. If you're willing to sacrifice defense, just bring up Fox for 3rd.

Either that or bring him up to platoon with Hoff in LF and send down Scales or DFA Miles or make up a injury and DL him.

Hrabosky just has absolutely no idea what he's talking about. It's so irritating to listen to him.

"If you pitch Fukudome away, he won't make contact."

Yeah, maybe last year, but he's done a pretty good job of going the other way so far this year and pitching him away certainly doesn't guarantee no contact. Moron.

Hey, that makes him one out of two on scouting reports, and that ain't bad

Wasn't a Cub he got right was it?

that makes far too much sense, though. i don't understand why fox isn't at least getting a couple of games in at 3rd down in iowa. they may be giving him some ground balls over there, but i haven't heard anything about it.

[i meant he's aware of one out of two scouting reports on a single player. Just not the current one]

I'm all for Soriano at 2B!!!

LET'S DO IT

our D is already pretty bad, might as well toss him in there and bring up JAKE to make the butcherfest complete.

Soriano 2B

Riot SS

Dome CF

Hoff LF?

Bradley RF

FOX 1B?

Soto C

Scales/Fonty/Miles/Freel 3B

P

This is a legit lineup, does anyone disagree? There is no way we will play it, but we can feel smarter when they keep sucking if we push for something like this on the Internet.

How pathetic is the FOUR BACKUP INFIELDERS?

And just for fun, since we need anything to lighten the terrible play:

Jim Hendry's Wet Dream (sorry for any nightmares caused by this image):

Soriano 2B (LF)

Riot 2B (SS)

Dome (CF, needs to learn 2B)

Lee 1B

Soto C

Fontenot 2B (2B)

Freel ...2B? sort of? (RF)

Scales 2B (3B)

Miles 2B (P)

The almighty SIX-2B Lineup. Long awaited, never duplicated. Five is the current Cub record, no? Most pressing need is a 2B/C.

F it, bring back NEIFI. At least he has speed. Have him spike the coffee with it and drug test the whole team immediately, voila no more Miles for like 25 games.

So the Brewers sent Gwynn Jr. to SD for Jody Gerut? Why? Did an OF get hurt? That doesn't make any sense unless the put Braun back at 3rd and move Hall to 2nd.

Gerut is a big upgrade over Duffy.

CT.... if the CUBS don't score next inning, I want you to go club some baby seals or something, eh?

What?

Why do I waste my time watching this? It would be really interesting to find out the last time a team gave up 8 or fewer runs in a series and still got swept.

Bradley has smoked two balls tonight, hopefully it's a sign of things to come...

Meanwhile Mike Fontenot might want to see if there are openings on any local St.Louis little league teams before the Cubs head out to SD.

Clubbin' baby seals is what you always threatened to do when you didn't get what you wanted. I know your memory isn't that short !!!

I think this is probably a give Ascanio two innings tonight because we're sending him down tomorrow, but maybe he can convince the staff to get rid of someone else instead.

When does Gerald Perry's name start being brought up as a guy to replace. Each of the 3 years under Lou's regime, the offense has gone MIA as a whole for stretches at a time. I know that he got them to start taking pitches for a while, but there have been times even when they have been winning when every run has been a struggle. In 2007, I know that at the end of the season each game was exciting, but a big part of that was because we were working terribly hard for each of the runs required. It seems that when our guys face pitchers who have and stick to a gameplan and refuse to walk batters, they can shut the offense down. Perry might not be the guy who can teach how to be effective against pitchers who are doing well. I don't know what to suggest for this success, but I'm also not saying that I should be the one to replace him. It is just that without a doubt, he is the weak link on this coaching staff. I doubt Ascanio goes down instead of 1 of the 2 guys we havnt seen in about a month.

Nah, I don't buy it. He led a team that was expected be a slightly above average offense into the highest scoring team in the NL last year. Even though the offense as a whole hasn't been great this year, every team has stretches like this. It's way to early to make panic moves and start firing people. The Cubs will be fine in the long run. By fine I mean they will be competing for a playoff spot all year.

So, in short, he gets all the blame for their slumps and zero credit for when they're hitting.

Gotcha.
