This things gonna come down to us beating Clemson. Dammit.

Well, Purdue, Ohio State and Michigan should be Big Ten wins, and Maryland and Virginia Tech are likely ACC wins, so the Big Ten can win the challenge if 2 of Minnesota, Illinois, MSU, Wisconsin or Northwestern wins.

I love how Purdue gets jumped in the polls because Duke beat No. 13 UConn even though Purdue beat No. 11 Tennessee. That's the difference between playing a high profile team in the states and playing a somewhat high profile team in Virgin Islands where few could watch.

Nope, it's because they are Duke. You gotta embrace it. Every year they are in the top ten, every year they are out by round two. Yet, Coach K is a master coach who gets the most out of his players.

1) Purdue jumped a bunch of teams after their win, including Duke. Before either win, Duke was ahead of Purdue, so..

2) Duke dominated UConn much more than Purdue and Tennessee. The game was never really in doubt after the first 15 minutes, maybe.

3) Duke's team is much different this year than in past year.

But sure, it is because they are Duke.

UCLA is terrible this year.

You aren't kidding. I don't think Jerime Anderson is a Division 1 point guard. Wish UCLA would have just waited for Larry Drew instead. Or convinced Abdul Gaddy that Jrue Holiday wasn't returning.

no you dont.

Who is this guy for Virginia?

Didn't see the game, so I am not positive you are talking about him, but..

I would bet it is Landesberg; he is by far their best player.

Wow, glad PSU won, but you can't count on Battle to score HALF of your freaking points every night. David Jackson went from scoring 25 points last game to taking just 4 shots this game. I have no idea what's going on

I think you are looking at the wrong poll. But yeah I could really careless at this point. Just a minor annoyance.

Good job Nits. The Big Ten is way overdue to win this thing. Maybe this is the year.

I think we have the teams and the matchups to win it this year.

If you guys win tonight, we have no excuse not to.

You are right. Duke never gets a break because they are Duke. Most of the time a team the shoots a mahority of their shot from the three point line end up shooting way more free throws than their opponent. Especially when they are the ones playing the tight pressure defense the entire game. Also Greg Paulus, Lance Thomas, Brian Zoubek, Casey Sanders, Josh McRoberts were all guys who should have been 5 star McDonalds All Americans. They also should always play their first two rounds of the NCAA tournament in North Carolina. But, yeah they are on the same system everyone else is.

As for Duke being a different team, bwhahaaha is Scheyer still playing point guard for you? If so you'll once again be lucky to make the second weekend.

Painter is on the coaches committee for that poll. Perhaps he gave Duke the 1 lone first place vote to keep his team playing with a chip on their shoulder.

I think Randle will end up at Purdue. He has been their number one target all along, and Illinois has been distracted with Beal. I also wouldn't discount Iowa State in that recruitment yet. Going hard after Langford seems to be the next move, seeing as he reached out to the staff about coming to Illinois (read this somewhere, too lazy to find source), and he wants to play in the Big Ten.

That's what I think as well. I don't see Randle ending up with us. Also I am very glad that Beal isn't at KU.

I don't know why Weber continued to waste effort on Beal when he didn't commit (shortly after he was offered) and was talking about keeping his options open or exploring other avenues, etc.

If a kid really wants to go to your school he'll commit, when he starts the keeping his options open talk move on.

Eh, if a top 10 kid lists you, you still have to pay attention to him. I do think we offered Randle and he didn't jump for whatever reason. From what I've read though Randle has had an offer for a bit and we would have taken him reguardless of what Beal did.

That's crazy talk. You only want commits that decide a week after you offer? Would anyone on our roster be on our team if that was our strategy? We wouldn't have any of the freshmen.

I don't think he meant that as it came out though. I think he meant that he would rather not lose other great players because you are concentrating so much on an elite player that you don't have a great chance to land. If that's the case I agree. It hurt us a lot a few years ago. We could have possibly had E'Twaun Moore had we not been waiting around on Eric Gordon. But, yeah you cannot just take kids who commit right away. Or else you will end up with a bunch of mid major kids who were blown away by an Illinois offer.
