Basketball Prospectus last year had a study on teams that returned 90% of their minutes from the previous season. Those teams averaged something like a 4 game win improvement in conference from the previous year. Iowa will be right around that number, maybe 1-2% below it. So just following that trend along with adding some actual depth and increasing the talent level, I think that's a reasonable expectation.

The problem is none of the other teams in the bottom half are losing anybody either. Michigan and NU are the only lower half teams to lose a senior of significance, and Northwestern is replacing that senior with a returning Kevin Coble.

The biggest plus for Iowa next year is that we will actually have some depth. When John Lickliter is seeing meaningful minutes during the B10 season, you have zero depth. I contend that it we had any depth this year we would have held off Ohio State in Iowa City. We won the first 38 minutes of that game, then hit a wall and lost it late. I don't think 7-8 wins in the B10 is out of reach next season, though it is probably our ceiling.

Minnesota getting embarrassed tonight in MIchigan, virtually assuring Illinois gets the 4-5 game in the Big Ten tournament (I say "virtually" because I guess they could technically win out and move up, but then they're in the NCAAs regardless).

is anybody watching this game? illinois is honestly getting fouled every time down, yet ohio state is the team shooting free throws.

I thought for sure Hightower blew the whistle to call a foul on Tisdale there at the end of the half.

ISU is so bad at last minute possessions. The possession at the end of regulation was pathetic, and the last one in OT was worse. Missouri needs to stop hitting circus runners down the lane, though I appreciated them matching Iowa State's crappy three point shooting and letting them hang around. It's pretty bad when I can't remember the last big home win ISU has had.

I think one of the Illini may have to get anally violated on the court to get a call. This game has been terribly officiated, and while OSU has gotten the better of the calls, it's been bad both ways.

i can't wait until we have good players.

I can't wait until Hightower isn't allowed to ref anymore. He makes my life miserable. Not only is he an awful official, he's my wife boss.
