KU still down 4 to Cornell. I think we'll lose this game. They tried to "turn it on" after coming out flat, but Cornell is still outplaying them.

I think Kansas gets it, especially after that 3

I don't think that Cornell guy touched him.

And that was a terrible shot by Cornell

Gurley made the observation throughout the night that Cornell was getting it from the refs.

wow what a terrible play out of a timeout.

Yeah Cornell's last 2 possessions were just chucking the ball. No offense at all. I assume they were running one earlier in the game?

Judging by what Ohio State has done tonight with Turner back I don't think Purdue will be unbeaten by this time next week. I think they drop one of either @Wisc or OSU.

Dear Iowa State,

REBOUND!!!!!

Getting outrebounded by a Houston team that is 3 inches shorter across the board and ranks in the 300's in rebounding is ridiculous. You somehow won in 2OT today, but if you play like this against Duke on Wednesday it's gonna be a beatdown.

I'm just gonna say "+1" to this and try to forget tonight ever happened. In order to make myself feel better: Seattle 99 - Oregon St. 48.

Wow. I know Oregon State isn't a great team at all but how do you lose by 51 points at home? To Seattle?

Yeah, Oregon State isn't good (they lost at home to Sacramento State) but still, anytime you lose by 51 at home to a team transitioning to DI, that's pretty pathetic. Plus Seattle did it with Charles Garcia (a 22-10 guy who will be in the NBA in a couple years) only playing 15 minutes.

It's OK. You could have been ran out the gym by Houston like OU did earlier this season.

It's interesting to hear people complain about Weber playing less talented, experienced "glue guys" over more talented freshman, because it seems like fans of every program bitch about that, with a few exceptions.

I know KU fans have railed on Self for sticking with hard-working, no talent guys over more physically gifted freshman. Even this year it's a running debate. Brady Morningstar clearly doesn't have the athletic ability/basketball talent of Elijah Johnson, a 5* freshman. But he's older (Morningstar is a RS Junior who came in a year late because of prep school, so dude is like 42), knows the system better, and is less prone to mistakes than EJ would be.

Right now, that chatter is at a minimum because we're undefeated and #1, but the moment we lose (especially if Brady is unimpressive in that loss), it'll hit the fan.

I don't know how comparable that situation is to the UI one because I really haven't seen the team play yet.

I think it is a pretty common trait amongst coaches. Weber was an assistant under Keady for a long time and Keady almost never gave freshman good minutes no matter how good they were.

Almost never? Keady gave plenty of freshman decent playing time.

Uh no he really didn't. In his last years he had to because his team sucked but for a large majority of his coaching career he wouldn't play freshman much. Like most of the guys from his coaching tree he prefers veterans who limit mistakes because his team's won by creating turnovers defensively and limiting turnovers offensively.

Uh, yes, he did.

Jaraan Cornell - 25.5 mpg as a freshman

Brian Cardinal - 29.8 mpg as a freshman

Linc Darner - 21.1 mpg as a freshman

Troy Lewis - 22.1 mpg as a freshman

Cuonzo Martin - 20.8 mpg as a freshman

Melvin McCants - 26.8 mpg as a freshman

Brad Miller - 17.9 mpg as a freshman

Todd Mitchell - 18.3 mpg as a freshman

Ian Stanback - 19.3 mpg as a freshman

Matt Waddell - 23.8 mpg as a freshman

Matt Kiefer - 15.4 mpg as a freshman

David Teague - 14.8 mpg as a freshman

Mike Robinson - 28.9 mpg as a freshman

Russell Cross - 36.2 mpg as a freshman

Brett Buscher - 19.0 mpg as a freshman

Chad Austin - 14.3 mpg as a freshman

That's at a glance and includes many players that weren't just from his last few years at Purdue. There are also players who transferred to Purdue that got good minutes in their first season with the program, such as Carl Landry, Carson Cunningham, and Willie Deane.

KU got very, very lucky. Hope it serves as a wakeup call.

They were fortunate. But those teams that can hit the three and move into a solid zone d are going to give KU (or any team, for that matter) problems if they are not crisp with their passes and turn the ball over.

Yeah, Oregon State appears to have taken 2 steps back this season. Geez, that was brutal.

And hot damn, UCLA beat Cal in overtime in Berkeley. This conference is soooo bad.

I think the game was a result of KU being very high on themselves after the Temple game. They assumed they were just gonna roll over some nerdy honkies last night, and they found out it's not that easy.

As an aside, I wish Cole could recapture the magic from last year. He's just been off all season, aside from the Memphis game. Good to know Sherron can still take over if necessary, though. I have trouble believing we'll have many more games where the entire team forgets how to play.
