So then the time to fire him would have been several years ago. Now that he's recruiting would be the wrong time to do it.

But, he's still not producing. How many years do we go between Tournament wins before we decide that enough is enough?

So I thought Purdue was not really doing much on the road and that was their big negative so far. However I learned today they have the 6th most wins on the road/neutral of any team in Bracketology and have the most of any team who has yet to lose on the road/neutral.

How about letting the recruits hes finally started recruiting get to Champaign, and see if that continues.

So if Chester Frazier doesn't get hurt in practice last year you don't think Weber should be fired?

I'd be thrilled with 11-5. I think something like 9-7 with a win in the Big 12 tourney gets us into the dance, but I'm still not sold that this team is consistent enough on offense and away from home to pull off a 3rd place finish.

I feel much the same way. Fortunately, 3 of the top 4 South teams are home games this year, and I think there's 9 wins out there for us if they play like they have since the Oral Roberts game.

Yeah, I think our defense will help us knock off a Texas or Kansas (or some other team that is obviously better than us) at home. No matter what, I'm infinitely more excited about this team now than I was about a month ago.

Can't wait for next Saturday. I am excited to see what KSU will do at Mizzou.

Paul kept us in that game with Keller. THe last second shot was terrible, but he had to shoot.

And Paul didn't make a shot in the last 17 minutes of gameplay. How did he keep us in the game?

C of C 2.2 seconds away from taking down North Carolina in OT.

Couldn't hit the front end to ice the game, but NC only has .8 seconds left.

C of C tied it up with 2 seconds to go in regulation on a desperation 3. At one point, they had a 19-2 run between the end of regulation and the first 3.5 minutes of OT or so. NC hit their first 3 of the game with just over a minute left in OT but they have a roughly 32 to 6 FT attempt advantage.

And they storm the court.

I think Chester Frazier is a role player at best. I don't think he guaranteed crap against WKU last year.

His tip dunk was much later than 3 minutes in to the game. He also knocked down two free throws. But, more importantly he was the guy who started taking the ball to the hole and changed our offense from just passing it around to one that actually had to be guarded.

You don't think missing your senior leader and best defender makes up a 4 point difference?

Do you think anybody on the team last year was any good?

Yes I think DMac is a really good player stuck playing out of position because we haven't recruited a point guard in the Bruce era. Although Abrams might change that. Mike Davis had a good year, but still has yet to develop a single post move. Tisdale is a good player that would be a role player on most teams. I'm sorry but after the Kruger and Self eras, it's hard for me to get to excited about barely squeaking into the top 25 and then laying yet another egg in a tournament game.

Pretty [expletive] amazing that Illinois was a 5 seed with a team full of role players.

Again I don't think that DMac is a role player. I think he is a really good player. I think we had one really good player surrounded by role players. We were a 5 seed because we caught Purdue twice when Hummel was hurt and because our precon schedule was crap.

Just so I'm clear, a lack of Robbie Hummell is equivalent to an 18 point swing, but a lack of Chester Frazier(the guy who shut down Hummell in his 39 minutes the first go around) isn't equivalent to a 4 point swing.

What are your expectations for Illinois hoops and football? 5 seeds and above average in football?

Illinois is like the only big state, population wise, in the country that doesn't have a consistent national powerhouse in either basketball or football. Personally, I think you guys aim too low.

Nobody's happy with Illinois's record over the past 3 seasons.

I was making more of a general observation that Illinois has come to expect performance ranging from mediocre to very occasionally excellent in the big 2 sports when resources-wise, they should be a lot better.

You're underselling Illinois basketball's history.

The issue with looking at it from a statewide population is that so much of the population is tied up in Chicago, and CPS players and the vultures that surround them are a cesspool. Illinois is never going to consistently get the CPS kids until they decide to lie down the with the dogs and risk more "lack of institutional control" calls.

This is more what I am getting at. We should never be as bad as we have been these past few years in bball. The guy who lead the team to that point should be fired, instead we gave him a raise and extension.

Robbie Hummel is at least ten times the player that Chester Fraizer is. The myth of Chester Frazier is unreal. Chester was a big part of the record the past few years. Having a point guard who could shoot a bit and we are a lot better.
