Heh, no way. Weber has really just lowered the bar to the point where this doesn't shock me anymore.

 

We've lost to a ton of mid majors under his watch. Tennessee State, Miami of Ohio, Western Kentucky, Bradley. We've also been beaten by really bad Big schools. Penn St. times like 4, Utah, Iowa, Northwestern. He seems like a nice guy, but we were on the cusp of being a great program and he's killed that.

 

The new trend to of not playing the talented freshman is really disturbing. Paul should never sit behing Legion and Jordan. I can't wait to watch Jereme Richmond and Meyers Leonard watch Mike Tisdale next year.

They aren't a good shooting team right now. The guys who are talented are young and inconsistent, and their experience who plays the most minutes just can't shoot. Tiller and Taylor as a starting backcourt is killing us without Lawrence to stretch the floor.

Some questionable late game coaching and a stagnant offense in the last 10 minutes did Iowa State in against Northwestern. A bit of a reality check, though NW looks pretty good for a team with two starters out for the year.

Yeah, I mean it's not a total backbreaking loss. Richmond isn't awful, but you aren't going to win any games shooting like you did tonight. This team needs to find ways to score when the jumpers aren't dropping, which is why DeMarre and Leo were so good for this team last year. Bowers really needs to work on his post game for this team to be successful.

Yeah, Johnson would be nice. Either way, this is the best ISU has looked under McDermott by far, and I think they have a decent chance to make the tourney. I just wish he wouldn't keep our second best player (Gilstrap) out for the last 4 minutes of a close game, or burn a second timeout in the huddle to draw up a contested, fade away three to tie.

well, that was disheartening...lost to a bunch of dorks that look like before models in proactive ads. glad gilstrap sat for the last five minutes in favor of christopherson who was absolutely worthless the whole game. brackins sucked tonight too. my enthusiasm for this season dropped 80% after that game.

How is what I said embarassing? How many weekends did we have like this under Self or Kruger? Hell we didn't even have weekends like this under Lon when he was having to rebuild the program. Weber's 44 - 30 since Bill Self's recruits left town...59% winning percentage, nothing to write home about for somebody coaching Illinois. It's also been 4 years since he won an NCAA Tournament game. I maybe in the minority here, but I just don't think the guy is that good of a coach.

I'm pissed off, but this isn't the end of the season. Weber gets a pass for 2007, but if this crap continues this season then his seat begins to get warm. We will make the tournament, don't jump ship yet. Just call it a horrible weekend and move forward. Clemson just got a lot more interesting.
