Southern Cal freshman linebacker Frankie Telfort has been diagnosed with a heart condition and will not play college football.

Yeah, there was a rumor going around last week that someone from USC was going back east to deal with major heart problems. Very sad.

Matt Jones ran a sub 4.4 40. Tebow wont come close to that number. He's a big strong qb who is a smashmouth runner. I dont think he is all that nfl athletic non qb wise. Even for a TE i question his speed and if he isnt a fast TE him as a blocking TE isnt all that grand of an idea either. FB? thats the most worthless position in football. Im not as fast as throwing him out as qb just yet, he wont be a high draft pick but as a backup/project he is worth a selection. There are some really crappy qbs in the league now so its not like there is a lot of class he has to beat out.

If you put any stock in Rivals' 40 time measurement before he entered college, they have him at a 4.69 40. If he can get that down into the high 4.5, low 4.6 range, put up good bench/squat numbers and show at least decent hands, I could see him as a possibility on the first day. He'd have to be very impressive on his combine day and a team would have to be willing to be creative with him, but a late first isn't out of the question, I don't think. Especially if the Wildcat package continues to succeed in the NFL this year.

Never put stock in HS 40 times, they're even worse than the college 40 times that schools list.

Yeah, I was wary about it. Rivals is generally reliable though (as far as recruiting services go), so I thought it might be worth a mention.

Where Tebow is picked in the draft will rely primarily on his draft combine, though. That and what the drafting team envisions him being.

Worse than Florida's? That workout board is joke. I think they had like 3 guys timed faster than Chris Johnson and Harvin at or sub 4.3 while he ran a 4.41 at the combine.

I'm going to live on that 4.7 I once ran for the rest of my life, no matter what you say.

We are now less than 5 weeks away from the first Saturday of the season.

The best time of the year.

I was looking through the TV schedules for Week 1 for the college football threads I post every week, and I got way too excited at the fact that the entire TV slate is pretty much set for September 5th. It's almost here.

Just picked up tickets for Michigan vs Illinois! Ive never been to Champaign for a football game, and I cant wait. Cant believe how cheap the tickets are. Sitting in the horseshoe, and its on Halloween, should be quite the experience.

How much were they? I'm thinking about going to that game as well.

I'm pretty sure I'll be going to Cincy on Black Friday to see that matchup (which should be a great one).

You can get horseshoe tickets for the Michigan game or the Penn State game for 30 bucks on Stubhub
