I doubt it, but it'd be a very cool deal, imo. I don't see the problem.

Well, aside from all of the NFL fans who can't afford a trip to Europe to see their team play (in a city that has zero connection to the NFL whatsoever).

If you can afford Super Bowl tickets, you can afford a flight to London.

Doesn't matter, it's an utterly stupid idea. I don't think you're going to see some huge fan base created in England by holding the game there, and you're going to piss off a lot of your current base by doing so. I hope Goodell denying the idea (for London or Mexico City) are sincere.

I'm just trying to figure out *why* it would make so many fans mad.

They could hold the game in London, intersperse some Arizona outside shots for the lead-ins, and you'd never even know the difference.

Would you hold the game at 9am pacific time or 11pm London time?

Outside of the fact that it's a completely [expletive] idea?

Yes. Explain *why* the location of the game matters to the people watching on TV to the degree that they'd get angry about it.

I don't understand why people would be so pissed (I mean, on a superficial level, I get it). So many of the tickets are just high-priced corporate gifts and packages and the like already. The location of the Super Bowl is almost totally meaningless in terms of the teams or the fanbases by design. Go ahead and do it. Edited by Sammy Sofa

Those comments were taken from a message board or commenting on an article. Either way those people probably wouldn't follow through with anything they said and are most likely not as upset as they are saying. Also they are probably the same people that run around saying don't mess with texas and unintelligent things like that. I doubt any of them are organizing a lynch mob to go attack goddell.

That being said, I can understand why people don't want the game to be held in London and know that there is no way it is ever going to happen. I am pretty sure that you are drastically overestimating how upset people are and how far they are willing to go to protest it happening. Although there were a bunch of people all across the country having "tea parties" last week so I am probably wrong.

the same reason you don't hold the english premier league championship in new york city. sure, you COULD do it, but it's pointless when the majority of the people in the country don't care about the sport.

soccer nerd correction alert:

there isn't a premier league championship because the league champion is based only on the regular season. there isn't a playoff to crown a champion in one ultimate game.

rocket's overall point still stands though.

People in England would go nuts if they decided to have the FA Cup final in America. Same goes for people across Europe with the Champions League final.

absolutely, and rightfully so. the reaction in the u.s. about the superbowl being played elsewhere would be the same.

You don't reward your loyal fans that have made you the clear No. 1 sport in the U.S> by taking there biggest game away from them. Having the two games in London during the regular season really pisses me off. The home team fans in those games have one less game to attend. That is not how you reward a fanbase for being loyal.

I don't mind the games played in London (gives me a chance to see an NFL game on TV), but I don't think they should hold the Super Bowl in London, or anywhere outside the US.

For the none football fans imagine if the World Series, all 4-7 games, were held in Japan or worse yet a country who really doesn't care about the sport of baseball and recently proved it by having a professional league fail there.

Not the best analogy since the having the homefield and the homecrowd is actually a factor in the WS. The SB is neutral to begin with.
