I'm starting to believe that rather than this being a slow start, maybe the offense just isn't that good.

Winner. Just wait until Soriano goes into a slump and Ramirez misses 2 weeks with a hammy tweak. And Theriot and Fuku remember they aren't really good.

Or, maybe Geo and Milton aren't .100 hitters.

They better not be. Unfortunately, there's also a good chance that Lee and Fontenot really do suck.

At least Z is doing his part

Lilly did the same last night.

Yeah, I feel really good about the rotation. Offense, not so much.

Rich Poythress.

Maybe we could trade for one at the deadline.

Or, instead of Peavy, maybe we could trade for Adrian Gonzalez.

Wasting yet another fantastic pitching performance; I feel bad for Lilly and Z.

Lilly killed himself with his own fielding though.

His own fielding cost him one run. If that one run is what does the Cubs in, then no part of the defense or pitching did any of the killing.

I find it really odd that the Cubs have been shut out for so long and have struck out very few times. It's been weak grounder and fly outs; is that something you attribute to bad luck with babip?

Rich Poythress.

He's been hot hot hot with the bat, but he doesn't sound like the kind of guy this team would go for given his limited tools elsewhere.

It'd be like the whole Travis Snider thing all over again.
