how would that not have been a joke?

never know these days....

Stop, just admit it went over your head.

That's because it wasn't a joke.

hey i can't stand the voice of reason as much as everyone else, but it was pretty obvious he was joking.

There's several ways you can go with it, I'm especially partial to "Speak up please, it's hard to hear up here in first place."

This is another good joke.

It'd work better if the Cardinals weren't tied with us.

Yet we're listed first and have been statistically better at winning.

Then I'll counter with their PythW-L.

CHC: 7-5

STL: 9-5

PythWL is, very roughly a measure of "luck" and "deserved wins," right?

They are luckier and more deserved because they've played two more games than we have? :)

Sure they'll win that argument, but it's pretty flimsy as well. Everything is a flimsy argument right now, to be honest...

I think the point is that, regardless of winning pct, it's laughable to brag about a lead when the GB column reads "--".

It's laughable to brag about any division lead in April, for that matter.

it's laughable to brag about any team winning anything since you're just some dude and he's just some dude and neither one of you have anything to do with anything.

Cards fan whipped out the World Series trump card, which is what pretty much every Cards fan is going to do.

You're right OMC and actually it should be Cubs 2 and the Cards 0 in World Series titles.

The 1926 championship shouldn't count either because it ended with Babe Ruth (of all people) trying to steal a base. He was out by a mile and Hornsby was later seen paying for the Babe's hookers with a wod of $50 bills. Obviously the series was fixed.

And of course, in 1982, the Cards won the series solely because the baseball talent on other teams in the league had been severely diluted by not having their players from Argentina, who in a show of patiotism, choose to stay home and fight Britain in the Falklands War instead of playing ball.

That's a lot of 1926 hookers.

It was more a reference to the fact that this is happening for the 3rd year running, but I can see how the wording is ambiguous.
